December. What else do they have?

Bayonetta 2, Toad, Hyrule Warriors, and the usual Just Dance, Spyro, and Disney Infinity games.

COD isn't listed but is always revealed pretty late so it could happen again.

These aren't exactly Smash Bros. material, but there are a few exclusives in that list and Mario Kart 8 will definitely sell a lot during this holiday season.

Personally, I think Smash Bros need to be out for Wii U this year, but I'm entertaining the notion that it could be out in 2015 if Zelda U is the only potentially huge system seller for that year.

Amiibo can't support Smash Bros 3DS this year because the Amiibo NFC attachment for 3DS doesn't release until 2015, as Nintendo said in their Digital Event at E3. Smash Bros has to come out this year, because it's their "big" holiday game. Captain Toad and Hyrule Warriors are great, but they will not move hardware through Christmas like Smash Bros will. Wii U needs a huge system seller this year, otherwise it's just way too late. The proof that it will release this year, other than the fact that Nintendo has confirmed it multiple times, is that Smash Bros Wii U will use Amiibo, and that Amiibo will launch alongside Smash Bros. And so if Amiibo is launching this year, so must Smash Bros Wii U. Nintendo wouldn't delay the game now even if the game needed it. They've got too much riding on it. If need be, they will pull people off other projects (like Xenoblade or Zelda U) between now and October just to get it to a finished state. It's basically their lifeline for the 2014 holiday season.

They said they did similar things in the 2012 crunch to get Wii U to a finished state for launch.  That's the only reason Mario U and Nintendo Land were done in time for Black Friday in North America.  You have to do what you have to do to get the game you need released at the right time to stimulate sales.

The Screamapillar is easily identified by its constant screaming—it even screams in its sleep. The Screamapillar is the favorite food of everything, is sexually attracted to fire, and needs constant reassurance or it will die.

I'm very optimistic about Nintendo not dropping Smash Wii U until next year. If they're track record is any indication, I'm not even considering smash wii u this year. I don't want it to be a 2015 title, but I'd rather they have it as sharp as a knife. Brawl disappointed me somewhat, specifically their online. It was always the dream to play smash like how people play shooters. If it's gonna give me the same online smash as brawl, i would hope they take all their time to perfect it.

I'm also optimistic about Nintendo taking a hard hit not having smash out this Christmas. Yeah, it will definitely hurt Nintendo, I mean by a lot, but I can see Nintendo take off sometime next spring. Certainly Nintendo will hurt and hurt badly, but if smash wii u is killer, steady HW sales all year round. Christmas after that is Nintendo resurgence, if the other two don't have killer apps.

I hope they truly drop smash this winter. I'm having a good year financially, and the best topping on the cake by the end of the year is playing smash non-stop.

I saw on a site that it is supposed to be realesed on Nov.21st .

I know about all of those games (isn't Sonic Boom releasing in Q4 as well?). All of them are either niche, B-tier material, and/or releasing before the holiday season. Nothing else they have even comes close to the magnitude of Smash. They need it, exactly like they needed Mario 3D World last holiday season. Better to have one holiday seller this year with Smash, and Zelda for next year's holidays, than none this year, and both next year.

Their release schedule for 2015 is pretty great actually, especially compared to 2014.

Splatoon, Yoshi's Woolly World, Kirby & the Rainbow Curse, Zelda, Xenoblade X, Mario Maker, Mario Party 10, Amiibo stuff, plus 3rd party games like Devil's Third, Fatal Frame (?), Project Cars, the inevitable COD/Just Dance/Skylanders/Disney Infinity, as well as any unannounced games (which there will be).

They'd pause the development of other games to get it ready for the holiday season.

The only scenario I could imagine for a delay would be the inability to get the amiibo figurines to work properly.

Of course it will release holiday time, they have Amiibo to launch as well, and with it being showcased with Smas Bros Nintendo are going to want the parents to be buying these for their kids. It would be pointless releasing these after the time of year where there is the most spending power.
