Well. If Sony's plan was similar to what Microsoft was... Nothing would have changed for me. Still would have bought both consoles. Microsoft's plan included the ability to LOAN and TRADE your digital games. So you were able to sell a game you purchased digitally. I don't even do that much used game buying and selling, but having that ability would have likely made me do it more. Much easier to just trade a digital game in then going to a store and having to deal with all that.. There were also going to be way more aggressive digital sales on newer games under Microsofts old policy. Yes, alot of this was just promises and who knows if it would have all came to fruition, but if this is what the policies were going to be.. I would have prefered it.

Microsoft sucked with their messaging on all of this. Everyone freaked out. Somehow everyone is ok with GameStop making money off us, but not Microsoft.

You can trade or sell digital games now, it's not something Microsoft was going to generously give you.

Huh? How are you trading or selling your digital games? X1 and PS4 do not have this ability. Nor does the PS3 or X360..

Of course they do, I've been doing it for years now. Just sell the account your game is on.

Absoultely not what we are talking about. That would be selling all digital games tied to that Gamer account.   Individual trading and lending is a very different thing. You are not selling and trading games.. as you are the losing the whole account. Which you would then not have all the games or saves associated with that account. Not worth it , when compared to trading or lending one game.  Unless you created a gamer ID for every single game you bought.. and then again making things more difficult then they would have been. Simplicity and ease of use is KEY here.

i would wait until the gen was about over and had a wealthy supply of cheap games and consoles and game on pc until then and enjoy my old consoles more.

This. I am not about to pay $60 for games when I bought over 15-20 games a year. Thats only on one console.

It's funny how many people are so well conditioned against used games. I wonder how many of those wait for humble bundles or steam sales before buying games. Most games depend on early sales to be successful, and with Steam sales, Steam still takes a cut.
Without used game sales, less money is going around to finance new games and new systems.

It would be an interesting experiment anyway. See how much the market shrinks and game stores slowly dying out with only the WiiU left as a viable option to stay in business.

WiiU sales would explode! I only buy new games anyways so It wouldn't really affect me. It's not really because I'm against used games though. It's more of an OCD issue. I want my games to be crisp clean virgins that no man has ever touched before.. I want to slowly peel their plastic wrap off and touch their sexy unspoiled insides..

8th gen predictions. (made early 2014)
PS4: 60-65m
WiiU: 30-35m
X1: 30-35m
3DS: 80-85m
PSV: 15-20m

I would've gone PC... Oh wait, I already did!

Seriously, though. Cheap games. GOG.com. There're lots of reasons.

I probably would have stayed a Nintendo fanboy!

I'm not saying that's necessarily bad, but I was a really delusional one!

I would probably have gone Wii U. But I already do some limited game on PC and I may have just reduced my gaming to what I already do on PC; which is entirely games that can't be played on console, like Smite.

I would have stayed on PC and just pirate any game thats DRM locked.

Wii U and old consoles.

I would have sticked with my WiiU and my PC!

LOL! This is too funny. PC has killed off used games entirely.

The fact of the matter was that you would still be able to trade in your games and everything.
