Why do people think all indies are 8-bit 2d platformers?

Pretty sure Project CARS is an indie game, for instance.

im playing 7 days to die atm, a nice okay looking indie game that combines zombie with minecraft and it works, its realy fun, and it was a 12€ game...

Same here, but they've been giving me cancer for a long time
Don't worry though, the best sign of someone that didn't actually buy a ps4 is when they say "i bought a ps4 for cellphone games?". It's just people on the other sides trying to downplay the King. They know negative word of mouth worked against other consoles so they are hoping it'll also work against the PS4. But they can keep dreaming.

Who is this King you speak of?

The PS4.

AAA and indie are both mostly rubbish.
Mid-tier is where the real quality's at.

example?

Fatal Frame, Bayonetta, Monster Hunter.

Monster Hunter and Bayonetta most definitely fall under AAA. Fatal Frame is the only one that fits because Koei Tecmo is too poor.

Never bought an indie game and may never buy one. I just haven't seen any that caught my interest. However, I recognize that they work for some, just not for me. I do reconcile with the idea that one doesn't buy a ps4 to play indies though they may fill a void. Problem is that void is massive at the moment which is why people are frustrated.

I think my biggest problem with ps4 is ultimately the lack of BC. I got a PS3 in the launch window too and while the "no games" situation was probably even worse, I didn't even notice because I was too busy playing ps2 late bloomers and even ps1 games. PS3 can't play anything but ps3 games so when there are no ps3 games incoming, it's just a dust collector.

Not a single one at any point has caught your interest?

I play indies on my PC, where there are far more for cheaper and (at times) significantly better.

I'm not anti-indie, but indies can't replace mid-tier games.

They don't that's the point, indies haev nothing to do with AA and AAA games, that's why bashing them is incredibly stupid. Indies being there or going away has ZERo effect on AA or AAA games. More games = good period, and there are some really good indies.

Actually it does have an effect.

Heck, Sony is  using it a distraction from their lack of games library. Do you really think that if a system was successful purely on indies driving it, that the moneybags behind it will feel the need to pump money into bigger projects, possibly risking failure, when they can just pocket it? They will pocket the money as bonuses or shift it to other departments.

There are "indie" games on PC with better graphics than all games made for the previous generation of consoles lol

Not to mention many of these sidescrollers aren't even the equivalent of "playing SNES" games at all. I sure as hell never played games like The Swapper, Risk of rain or Rogue legacy back in the day. One might assume they did if they only look at screenshots but if they actually bothered to play them they'd realize what a ridiculous baseless assumption they are making.

What a load of BS, so you think Sony is going to keep spending millions on staff at all there studios to not make games because a few indies which they dont make much money off are selling 50 k on PSN???? LOL no just no, they make all there money on the big AAA games that sell like destiny, COD, etc... Sorry your post is BS, Indies have no effect on AAA developmenty.

I never said that they are trying to replace them, I was referring to the OP where it was mentioned that indies are essential due to AAA dtudios closing. I'm saying that indies don't even come close to replacing them.

i've got to disagree with you there..

..i'd rather play fez 2 than the next halo, gta, assassin's creed, battlefield, call of duty, gears of war, gran turismo, forza, uncharted, batman, fallout, farcry, ect. and so forth.  i'm more excited for the witness than for destiny or even bloodborne (and i love the souls series).   AAA has become such monotonous, boring, drivel these days.  i could easily never buy another AAA again and just play indies but i could NEVER just play AAA and be happy.  too few.  too samey.  too dudebro.

i am glad to have choices though.

Is today an Alt ID day?

Too many people to reply to....... so i will just say this............

My post history shows that i have never given a toss about indie games for the most part (and could happily get by completely without them)

Secondly, i love it when some folk say "it's only because sony have more indie support" as the reason as to why i dislike them, hang on a minute, there were a TONNE of sony fanboys last gen who completely dismissed indie games when Microsoft fans would bring them up as proof that the 360 still had games coming out for it late in to its life (talk about a bunch of hypocrites)

Sorry, but this has to be said, (many) sony fans are by for the worst when it comes to changing the playing field in order to suit thier own agendas.
