Forums - Gaming - Anti-Indie'ers are giving me cancer!

I don't think it would be unpopular, unless it is insulting or rather very off-topic.

Nah, not insulting. Off-topic a little though, as the thread does look more focused on general social chattings and game discussion, so if I decide to bring anything up, it'll be in a thread elsewhere. I'm still dipping my toes in terms of content, but there are definitely some things I want to eventually bring up for discussion, such as the concepts of sales momentum and how it may effect the long-term strategies of both companies.

....I'm nerdy like that. xP

Ok... more of a sales thread type of conversation I think.

Im not anti-indie, but I dont buy consoles to play their games. They are a nice addition when the droughts are happening.

But I don't think there's ground for stupid facebookers to complain about games. A lack of indie's doesn't necessarily mean more AAA.

Everybody has thier own opinion though. I like some indie games, just bought Shovel Knights and I am having fun with it, however I would not deny that those games are not what everybody wants. I have several friends who they would not buy an indie game just because they can get "similar" games on their phones.

Sadly, we can appreciate the value of an indie game, but not everybody can.

But that's not an opinion. It's a crass statement "Yet another game that looks like it should've been made for my cellphone"

It's easy to judge behind a screen, but if he just looks at any behind the scenes game dev thingy, he'll know how many hours and hard work and sweat goes into making a game, even as simple-designed hohokum.

If he says something like it looks dull or boring, then fine that's his opinion. But there's no need for saying the game should be for smartphones as if smartphones is a wasteland for "shit" games, it's demeaning to the devs who certainly read the comments, it's crass and plain old stupid.

He's complaining about the presence of an indie game on ps4 rather than complaining about the actual game itself

It may be an uneducated opinion, but is still an opinion. Truth is not everybody recognizes Indies as some deserved, but that's another topic.

The mainstream gamer does not go into behind scenes, the may watch a let's play or something. I agree I do not like most of those comments, but we can just ignord them.

Majority of japanese titles arent graphically impressive either. Outside of MGS, Resident Evil and FF, Japan has no technically impressive looking games.

There is a big difference in budget with western AAA titles like GTA and Watch Dogs and Japanese AAA titles such as Dark Souls 2, where the budget is still considerably small compared to a western triple A game

Still doesn't make MH AAA. It's simply not big budget enough to qualify.

Bwahahaha.

MH budget is huge! Only Capcom game that gets more $$ is Resident Evil. I'm not sure how anyone can say otherwise.

MH is not AAA. It's essentially 6th gen from a graphical standpoint, it has no A-list stars, Hollywood motion capture, or any of that jazz.

It's budget wouldn't even come close to stuff like COD, GTA, or Destiny.

It has the best graphics on pretty much every platform it releases on. They spend a ton of time on it and have huge teams to keep up the steam.

It's budget isn't near COD, GTA, or Destiny, but you don't have to match those to be AAA.

It's not even remotely close to be being the best graphics on Wii U, PS3, PC, or 360. Yes, it looks fantastic for Wii/3DS/PSP, but getting that level of detail isn't as expensive as pushing a HD console's limits.

360 game is a port of a very old MMO, which is really a port of the original PS2 title.

PS3 game is a upscaled port of the 3rd PSP game. MH tri is one of the best looking Wii games, and MH3U (which despite being a Wii port with extra content) is definitely one of the better looking games on the system. Wii, 3DS, PSP, and PS2 are the only platforms to get a ground-up MH game.

Producing high end Wii graphics isn't expensive though. And I sure hope you're referring to MH3U on 3DS, cos the Wii U version is light years away from being one of the best looking games on the system. It's effectively just a 1080p up-res.

Oh really? I wish Square, Santa Monica, Nintendo, etc knew in that era.
