Forums - Gaming - Call of Duty: Advance Warfare Preorders: End of an era?

Some people say that VGC is undertracking the game. Ok, this is very possible, but the charts are showing a MASSIVE decline, it's not like 10 or 20% of undertracking would make a big of a difference.

What I'm saying is: undertracked or not, the game is showing a massive decline and the OP could be right.

I agree. CoD is death.

DESTINY DOMINTION!!!

If you guys could see how bad Destiny is obliterating COD it would absolutely shock you.

Just wait for CoD MP trailer. You are all just lying to yourselves right now.

Its for sure not dead and anyone saying so is crazy.

But Im looking at pre order reports right now and Destiny is HUGE in comparison.

I doubt highly it's the end of the CoD era, however, this may be the first time Activision and the CoD devs are forced to actually reevaluate their modus operandi and quite frankly, that's a good thing.

I think we all know not to trust the preorders chart by now, but I feel that there does seem to be a general lack of hype for COD this year.

It definitely seems to be on a decline but I really wonder why Destiny seems to be the reason.

I mean, why do most people play CoD? For the standard and simple multiplayer matches right? Exactly this seems to be the least interesting and revolutionizing part of Destiny and even if Destiny is a definitive purchase for me and my last CoD was already like six years ago I see nothing which could draw CoD players away from CoD to Destiny. I mean CoD players didn't stop to buy CoD for Halo, not for Battlefield, not for games like Borderlands and so on...

But maybe i jsut have a wrong picture of the average CoD player in my head.

the best gauge is sentiment. I mean compared to other years no one is really talking about it at all. In forums and in person. It will no way sell as much as other cods but should still do 12-15 million minimum and progress down over the next 3-4 years before obsolescence

Gen transitions are the best time for a top-spot takeover. Smart Activision did it themselves with Destiny. CoD will still sell well, but the sales are getting slower each iteration. It will enjoy several more before fading or maybe it will end in a lower baseline but still deliver good numbers.

I'm buying it. :)
