Forums - Gaming - NONE of my friends own an 8th Gen System.

None of my social circle has either, buying early if for the rich and the obsessed, I mean some of them are game teachers and they don't have consoles themselves. Us Joe Bloggs with our jobs and stuff don't get the privilege. But, if you buy a next gen, your friends will follow your lead, it won't be split between consoles, but one. That's how this stuff works.

Hmm, pie.

How many years took your friends to jump in last gen? maybe they aren't the kind of people that buy a console after been released for less than one year.

Not one.  Not a Wii U, a PS4 or an XBOne.  Not a single friend has one of these.  Many of my friends are gamers.  Most would fall into the Dude-Bro category, guys I play hockey with who play COD, GTA and NHL 20XX.  A few are more serious gamers like me.  Some have kids who are also into gaming.  But all are playing on a PS360 and I haven't heard one mention they want to get a U,4 or One.  They know about them, but don't care.  Yet, at least.

I thought of this because last gen friends were split between PS3 and XB360, and I was thinking it would be good to have everyone on the same system to play together.  I have a U, but I doubt many will pick one up - though interest has really spiked with MK8.

I think this really says a lot about where we stand with this gen.  The mass market hasn't jumped on board yet, at all.  Talk of PS4 dominating is silly.  Talk of Wii U's dreadful sales in 2013 is irrelevant.  Even talk of a doomed XBOne premature.  That's not to say that the early PS4 momentum isn't important - getting back to my friends, if the early adopters are picking up PS4's that could swing the whole group.  But we don't know what's ahead.  COD's pre-orders are down.  AC's pre-orders are down.  We don't know what titles and system will capture the imagination of the mass market, and none of either have done that yet.

well said

Sorry but your wrong.

All your friends have a current gen console they just haven't told you so they don't have to deal with you online.

Again sorry fro being the one to break the bad news.

Most of my friends have next gen console. Plus I have been converting Xbox 360 / Wii friends to take PS4. Its working for many of my friends.

I owned a PS3 before I purchased my PS4, an I love my PS4.
I do regret sending my PS3 to my nephew, I'm missing out on tons of great PS+ content for the PS3. however, I do love my PS4.
I just saw that Gamestop. will offer a $25 credit for the remastered PS4 The Last Of Us.when you trade in your PS3 copy............... Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

Only 3 of my friends have a next gen system. Two have a PS4 and one has an X1.

Well theres only like 20 something million ppl with 8th gem system its expected that a lot of ppl will have all theyre friends on the dont have 8th gem system list. As the gem goes on more ppl get new consoles and yet only about 250sh million ppl do so worldwide, there will still be plenty of guys with no friends owning 8th gem consoles on a world inhabitted by 7 billion ppl. Its simple statatistics realy.
