Forums - Sony - The Future of Santa Monica Studio

The old one was horrible. The news one is good but lacks inspiration.

Also Hohokun and Journey are not Santa Monica games, just published by them.

As for God of War, they milked the franchise too much, so I hope they wait long before releasing a new next-gen one, and create a new franchise instead (The Order looks meh)

How did they milk the franchise too much? Are we getting yearly renditions of the game? Last time I checked there were 2 games from the PS2 era and 2 games from the PS3 era. I'd hardly call that milking. I definitely don't count the HD collection as it's a game that was already developed. Just touched up in HD.  There are plenty of other games out there that better fit the "milked" definition in gaming terms.

On topic: I actually like the new logo. I liked the old one too, but this one is welcomed.

I like it. Now... how about some new games? Some purely Santa Monica ones. Not that I'm not interested in The Order.

4 ≈ One

Reminds me of the 70s.

prefer their previous cool design logo, new logo looks like indie studio...

I like the new logo. Didn't even remember what the old one looked like til seeing that post.

They just need some cool game announcements and their future will be looking very good indeed

Santa Monica helped a shit ton with other games. Flower, The Order:1886, Flow, Fat Princess, Unfinished Swan, Journey and more successful games. Thats the branch of teams Sony assigns to most of their development to save other teams outside of the studio because they are so good. I cannot wait until they drop outside games and work on a new IP themselves, but they are co-developig with The Order right now. I guess its a favor of a favor since Ready at Dawn helped them on the PSP with God of War.

I like the fact that they can change it depending on the game. Good job by them :)

The old logo looked cool but it didn't really fit with everything they did. If they were just a standard developer for something like GoW, I'd say keep it. However, the way the new logo works to highlight the look and feel of individual games is nifty and perfect for what they do.
