Forums - Politics - Israel is getting out of hand

Everyone how has died over these past few days has died because of the direct actions of Hamas. The death of Palestinians civilians is regrettable, but they are the author of their own destruction for their continued choice to aid and abet Hamas.

To quote William Tecumseh Sherman, an American Civil War General, "war is cruelty, and you cannot refine it; and those who brought war into our country deserve all the curses and maledictions a people can pour out."

Not sure what I would or could do if my city would get attacked but I would surely not support to kill 1000 innocent in another city to safe 10 innocent in my city. Especially knowing that this won't make it better because of the increasing hate against my city in areas around me.

I said, as a citizen, not as the governement.  As a citizen, I would demand action to be taken, and if it wasn't, I'd elect someone who would.  If rockets keep firing, the Israeli government will keep attacking, or a new governement will be elected that will.

Yes, I meant as a citizen? I as a citizen wouldn't support that my city will kill hundreds and thousands of innocent because there could die maybe ten in my city espeically when I know that this "protection" of me isn't really a protection when there will be more and more people in cities around me who want to kill me after the actions of my gouvernment.

Throwing bombs on a building to kill 10 innocent and detroy some hidden rockets which could maybe kill one innocent is surely not what I can support.

If this would be a "normal" war between two countries and if one country wins, the war would be over you could maybe think it is a good idea but Israel won't win anything with this. They will hurt Hamas now but not forever and in the long run Hamas will only get stronger with more support. Some of those who will lose family members in Gaza will be full of hate against israel and they will do what they never did before, try to kill people in Israel. It's like a never ending story.

I hope Israel keeps pounding. Hamas needs to get it's ass beat down pretty hard. They are murderous thugs, and should not be tolerated. Just my feelings.

Ask stefl1504 for a sig, even if you don't need one.

What makes you think all of the people who died were aiding Hamas? Does throwing rocks at soldiers of a country who killed your families and fellow citizens makes you a Hamas supporter?

I didn't say that but you're suggesting that Israel is attacking back just because of those 3 killings.

That's how the recent escalation started.

More akin to the drop of water that tips the scale (or something along those lines). I don't think either are in the right but the only way this conflict will stop is if each party says "let's share this land 50/50".

Yeah, believe it or not a lot of Palestinians AND Israelis publicly supported this notion to end the on going war once and for all.

of course this could've been avoided if the Arabs agreed to split the land between them and the Jews in 1947, but you can't blame 'em for not wanting a minority (less than 8% of the citizens) to get 56% of the land.

That figure isn't accurate.  It was about 30-35% of the population at that point, but the proposal also factored in future immigration.

Israel is doing what it needs to bc no one else will. There is only one way to deal with terrorists.

Actually, Israeli tactics have been incredibly effective at reducing the amount of attacks on Israeli civilians.  Suicide bombings and other attacks were very common in the late 90's and early 2000's and have been greatly curbed.  It also has greatly retarded the growth of Hamas.

As for me, I would expect my government to protect me and my family.  I'd hope they would do it with a bit more finesse, but if my governement said "oh we're just going to ignore this", then I would vote them out lickedy split.

When you stop and think for a second, it's sad how Arabs/Muslims and Jews had no problem co-existing at all from 1400 years ago till about a century ago, and yet the 2 sides greatly despise each other in these times.

Problem is that the Iron Dome missile defense system doesn't work without enough time to intercept rockets.  Going to the proposed UN partitions would leave Israel incredibly vulnerable to rocket fire, and they have little reason to believe that this solution will stop the attacks.
