Forums - Gaming - Great games that aren't replayable

Pillow said:
every game that heavily focusses on the story, and very long games such as Xenoblade, 3D Zeldas.

I personally replay 2D Zeldas pretty often, probably because they are more about gameplay than dialogues, and are a lot shorter on average.

the cinematic games are the ones I always keep to replay like MGS, Uncharted, TLoU, Heavy Rain, Beyond, Journey, Walking Dead and such

The Layton games.

Puzzle games for me as well, puzzle platformers etc. At least until you don't completely forget the puzzles

As for Naughty Dog games, replayed every single game of theirs I've owned, with Uncharted 3 being the most replayed, with currently 5 complete playthroughs and many many replays of my favourite chapters, gameplay is so enjoyable that it's a pleasure to replay their games.

So it is happening...PS4 preorder.

Greatness Awaits!

Well the obvious Portal comes to mind, however, I've just started Deus Ex Human Revs again and honestly the first time around, I thought that it was a play once game and really it still is. It's a good game and I'm only playing it again because I can't remember most of it, so sadly seemd forgetable too.

hmm

Hmm, pie.

Okay, most cinematic games I don't find myself replaying often, but there are games I do find very replayable. I'll give a list of games that I can replay over and over without getting tired of. Top to bottom is the order they are in.

Super Metroid
Donkey Kong Country 2
Zelda OoT
Link to the Past
Metroid Prime
Super Mario World
Metroid Prime 2
Metroid zero Mission
Paper Mario TTYD
Xenoblade Chronicles
And more from these series.

Here are some that are from these series that it has to have been a while since I played them for me to want to play them again.

Twilight Princess
Wind Waker
Skyward Sword
Donkey Kong Country
Metroid Prime 3
Metroid Other M

And once again, many more from there. If a game didn't leave a good gameplay impression on me, I don't find myself wanting to replay it. If a metroid game is too cinematic, I find myself not revisiting as much. That goes for most story based games. You don't want to replay the game if you already know what happens. It's like a movie. The Last of Us was one of those that I played once and didn't really want to play again.

The Uncharted games. I really like all three, but dont feel the need to replay them.....yet anyway

Personally, I think that is what separates really good games, from truly great ones.

I'm not sure it's really possible for a game to be truly great, unless it has replayability, IE is fun to actually go back and play through.

Heavy Rain.

Naughty Dog games for me are very replayable, I just have to force myself to play it again, but after that I get into them.

My answer is Super Paper Mario.

Uncharted Trilogy, TLOU, Zelda, and a lot of other games.
I usually replay Metroid, Mario Kart and Smash Bros games though, not much else.
