Forums - Gaming - Former Valve contractor says VR is 'bad news'

I doubt it will have much mainstream appeal tbh, I think the only people that will buy it are journalists, hardcore, techy and people that want an unique, next level, virtual sex experience (provided the VR is compatible with PC that is)

It is bad news. Look what happened to Sword Art Online.

I'm sure I read this in a thread a few days ago but maybe I'm mistaken.
Gaming is generally a very anti social thing so I don't get his point.

I only know an anime by that name. Was there a real life MMO called SAO that used VR?

Old news is bad news.

VR is the future...period. We are all going to tap into it not just for games, but for everything. It's got so many applications that even great grandmother will enjoy using it (think walking through a park in the 1940's where she played as a little girl etc.)

It's going to be as mainstream as watching TV.
