Forums - Sony - TLOU Dev Fires Back At Those Who Feel $50 Is Too Much For PS4 Version “It’s a Steal”

No I don't think 50 dollars is too much for a remake of a game that's only a year old. I think that a remake of a game that's a year old is a waste of development resources and a cash grab for Sony.

In fact, you just shot one of the key arguments that Sony fans have been countering my claims with. It's Sony fans who've been saying that making a PS4 version of the game would be easy. Thank you for all but admitting my point Sony. LOUR is using a lot of Naughty Dog's resources ippso facto they wasted development time that could have gone towards a new game.

The only other argument Sony fans have is that there are a lot of people who haven't played TLOU on the PS3 yet. However, I don't believe that alone warrants the remake.

If you want to continue the debate about the game, fine, but I'm on vacation and don't have energy for a lecture in statistics.

Always happy to help and point people in the right direction, so they don't embarrass themselves in the company of their peers.

IDk other than this thread, there is another 500 page thread on this very same issue....can see any other remaster getting this much hate

Before it was a one sided argumnt.  People were upset with the price so they commented and moved on.

Now there is people being defensive so youre seeing arguments now which are making the comment section more bloated.

Hey I'm just using Sony's own argument.  It's not my fault that they completely shot themselves in the foot.

As for the 48% figure ive never really believed that number since sony really doesnt have accss to all 8.6m people out there who bought Ps4 so they really dont know how many of those people actually had only a X360.  That numbr is likely done by a survey of a small fraction of the actual install base who could easily lie for that matter which isnt an uncommon thing with the console wars going around.  At best case scenario you can say 48% of lets say 2000 people they surveyed which is what percentage of 8.6m exactly?  You see where im going here?

Hum... No. The number is most likely not 100% accurate. But Sony has easy access to the number of console that connects to its network, and the number of new accounts created. No need for a survey there.

Ohhhh man they have access to who connects to XBL on X360 as well? xD  Man you never seize to amaze me xD

psst, not everybody is connected to the internet. either.  I remember a craze going on about this last year ;)

Don't be an ass. Can't you extrapolate even a little? Or must everything be spoonfed to you all the time? This reaction of yours makes it obvious you're approaching this with an agenda...

They can't be sure a 100% that all the newcomers are migrating specifically from a MS console, but the point remains that they can easily gauge how many users didn't have a PS3, and as such, how many of them didn't get TLoU before.

I find it funny that some kid who is showing that he has almost no idea how statistics work is trying to educate me using web links he probably has a barely working understanding of. Makes me look at my Cum Laude in BSBA Marketing/Management diploma and 13 years in corporate and 5 years in Project Development (which includes pricing studies and competitor analysis) and smile a little bit.

But, by all means, try and code in the population and sample size you just mentioned and tell me what the calculator I provided you above is telling you on what the margin of error is.
