Forums - Sales Discussion - June 2014 NPD Thread! PS4: 269k, XBO: 197k, Wii U: 140k

Yeah I find this very odd. So Xbone was selling shit before june 9 because of the incoming pricecut and from june 9-15 it managed to outsell PS4 from june 1-15?????

That's not hard to believe to me at all.  People who didn't buy the system in May were waiting for the new SKU.  New SKU comes out, everyone who was waiting rushes to get it.  First week sales are huge, rest of the month drops a bit, PS4 still wins June.

I dunno why you were saying last month that Xbone was beating PS4 at gamestop. Your post is from june 16. Xbone pricecut was june 9.

"For those curious June so far X1 > PS4 but Sony giving a hell of a fight"

Because it was?

The first weeks of the price cut were great then it dropped off big time. I dont know whats so hard to ubderstand about that.

Not to mention GameStop is one retailer. Best Buy and Wal Mart are massive electronics sellers as well and I know exactly zero about what they sell. I dont and have never claimed that i speak for industry sales.

No I find it hard to believe Xbone came back in 1 week and outsold PS4 with 2 weeks, and then falling back so hard that it was outsold by 70k in the end. Gamestop should be fairly representative of the overall market. The effect of the pricecut isnt gonna be exclusive to 1 retailer.

I agree with your sentiments, but maybe BenV's store was one of some that had a big spike that week - big enough to do better than the PS4, even if it was a brief period.

He can't know every single store's numbers -I know that as a former employee of GameStop. We get lots of info, but not all relevant info.

Ah, I assumed he knew the numbers of all the gamestop stores in the nation or his state atleast.

What is unbelievable?

Price cut was announced long before the release of the kinectless xbox. A lot of people held back until it was released. A huge spike is expected. Common sense, really.

Great job for Xbox beating expectations. Though still losing out to PS4 is another story.

e=mc^2

Gaming on: PS4 Pro, Switch, SNES Mini, Wii U, PC (i5-7400, GTX 1060)

XOne actualy did pretty well, why did Ms come up with that epic spin, itdve been a lot better to say "almst sold 200k units" rather than trying the epic more than double spin that actualy made ppl think it had sold far less than it did.

Actually, the Xbox didn't do "pretty well". It did horribly, considering the new lower priced model. If they couldn't beat Sony in sales, IN THEIR HOME TERRITORY, after a MASSIVE drop in price, when will they? Answer? NEVER. It's all over but the cryin', folks.

You dont understand. He said it outsold in 1 week what PS4 managed in all of June. If he said "this week Xbone outsold PS4 as expected due to the pricecut" yes I would believe that. It's completely unbelievable when PS4 was outsold for the whole month and then went on to outsell Xbone by 70k in the end. Anyways, BenV is in charge of only 1 store and I didn't know that, people act like his info is from all of the gamestop stores in the country instead of a single one.

There is no shame in losing to the PS4. As long as Xbox One gets decent sales, these could be better of course but certainly aren't bad, it is doing well.

Well, if I worked in the Xbox division, and MY boss just said that it's "not a core product" and then proceeded to lay off 18,000 workers, I wouldnt sleep very well at night with numbers like they are posting...but hey, keep hoping and wishing away...I am SURE it's doing SOME good! :)
