Forums - Gaming - Sony is looking at remastering PS3 titles the same way Disney remasters movies

They both share the same hardware DNA. That's why backward compatibility is so easy to achieve. The same cannot be said with the PS4. Which went from a PPC based CPU (Cell), to the much demanded [by developers] x86.

Sounds like a smart move then...

Which one?

And I explained. Not giving ppl who bought a title any advantage isn't "taking advantage" of anyone. Like buying a blu ray and then getting the collector's edition doesn't entitle you to a discount.

Thats not the same. The same would be the people who bought the DVD of the movie. They can still watch the movie on their BR player.

Were you under a rock when the game released? A lot of people wondered why they didn't keep that game for the PS4's launch. The same as Gran Turismo 6 and Beyond Two Souls.

People wondering why they didnt release it on the PS4 instead of the PS3 is not a demand for it to be released on both.

No, the preorders and purchases of said title would be the "demand".

Having your consoles share the same DNA.

Indeed. That's why the Wii U has been burning shelves.

Yeah, Sony created the demand. You couldnt pre-order it before it was announced.

Im not sure what youre getting at. The WiiU doesnt sell because it has BC with Wii games?

Why isn't it the same? You can watch/play both titles on the machine you currently own (assuming you were one of those who once bought it). At what point in the transactional process (in this specific case you are stating) is Sony "taking advantage" of said customer?

It doesn't sell because there's quite a lack of games because of its architecture. Among other reasons. But that should be a discussion for an other thread.
