Great news! I was getting sick of new games anyway...

Why don't you just stay out of these threads if you have nothing to add but stupid hyperbolic comments like this?

You're really going to keep defending these remaster even as the news gets worse and worse... And worse? If I were a huge Sony fan and bought a ps4 day one, I'd be PISSED. Hell, when nintendo announced WWHD I was like.. Really? Did we need this? Come to find out that there might actually be good reasons for that remaster, but anyways, when is enough for you? Seriously, where do you draw the line?

Lets just pretend the long list of AAAs and Indies dont exist them shall we? Spend your money on what you like, let others do the same. Sure is nice to have the choice tho Remasters check, indies check, F2P check, AAA check, MMO's check

I would accept these remasters if the consoles theyre on had BC.

So i take it this is why there was no backwards compatibility.

The reason there is no backwards compatibility is the same reason there was no backwards compatibility for N64, SNES, and GCN for Nintendo.  And to a lesser extent Xbox One, Xbox 360.  It's too expensive.

Uhh, Nintendo did all of that on the Wii, and the Wii U is fully BC with the Wii. There are some procedural hurdles to be sure, but expense is not one of them, given that it's a straight shot architecturally.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

why? if YOU dont see the value in it and YOU believe it to be a cash grab...... dont buy it. Its just another option for people that are interested in this. Again what the big deal?

Whats the big deal about BC? Many gamers owned a PS3 and 360 and would love to play their games on the PS4 and XB1. Its just that these remasters have made that obsolete. IF the consoles had BC, then we wouldnt complain as much about these remasters. They removed a feature in order to sell you the games again. Whats next? Theyre going to remove the analog sticks from the controller and sell them loose?

Because they are 1st place, they can afford to do this. Minimal cost with maximum return potential.

Basically.

If the cost is minimal, I would think that position wouldn't matter at all. If a remaster only costs a fraction of the original budgetm then at £40 a pop, even if only 100K sell, that's what? £1.2M of almost pure profit (since not much money would need to go into recouping dev costs). And that's for low sales.

I don't think being in 1st place has anything to do with the affordability (in terms of marketshare) of that kind of potential. Not to mention, they still have games coming out, so it's not like "we're in first, so we're not gonna give new games, only old ones". Nintendo could remaster Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn for WiiU and Microsoft could remaster Lost Odyssey for XBone, and as long as they're still releasing the new games they told us they're going to release, there should be absolutely no complaints. The fact that TLOU was in the works didn't prevent I:SS from coming out, nor did it put UC4 behind schedule, for example (for people who would say that Sony should put their resources elsewhere). So what's the problem?

Sony could announce 100 remasters right now, and as long as DriveClub, LBP3, Blodbourne, etc. come out...why should I or anyone else take issue with it? As long as remasters don't tamper with the production schedule of other games, being able to "afford to make them" has absolutely 0 relevance. If they don't interefere with other games, all the companies can afford minimal cost with maximum return potential.

well.. we know that remasters didn't prevent these games from coming out.. but we don't know about the games it did prevent from coming out. and if sony made 100 remasters, you better believe that is going to take away from other projects.

What I get from reading this thread is basically this from some fans:

MS fans: LOL! Sony is remastering all these games. Man, those Fable and Halo Anniversary Editions are awesome, though. Halo:MCC is going to be awesome, too!

Nintendo fans: LOL! Sony is remastering all these games. Man, Wind Waker HD and OoT HD are awesome, though! I can't wait for Nintendo to make Majora's Mask HD!

yep seems like it! imagine if they were kicking the competition ass!

i sense sarcasm in this post.. and if that is true, the joke is actually on you because sony is doing the worst out of everybody.. so thinking of this as a desperation tactic does make more sense than you probably realize.

”The environment where PlayStation wins is best for this industry” (Jack Tretton, 2009)

lol, people acting like backwards compatibility of ps3 games is a simple solution, right, because writing a software emulator to recompile code designed for the cell processor to an x86 processor is so super easy...

head in the clouds.

Personally i just hope they do a hd re-release of the ace combat series.
