Forums - Sony - Phil Harrison resignation will affect the ps3?

I just hop eit doesn't affect the direction of SCE Worldwide Studios too drastically. He was one of the pivotal men behind the growth of SCEWWS.

I think it could have an impact on the direction of the PS3. Home and some other casual projects were spearheaded by Harrison. Without that type of advocate, I wonder if they will aggressively seek casual users or abandon that approach.

I'd say it's likely the PS3 will become more "hardcore" oriented, which is good for a lot of posters here, but not for me.

He's the driving force behind the acquisition of Little Big Planet, Echo Chrome, Home, Buzz, Singstar, and the Eyetoy. I suspect now Sony will focus even further on games like Killzone 2, Final Fantasy, God of War, and Metal Gear Solid.

I doubt it.

My take is Japanese companies always give most of the power to the Japanese employees when it comes to making vital strategy decisions.  Western branches are responsible for implementing policy and have a say if the policy doesn't work, but generally speaking Japan sets the policy.  Microsoft and EA are the same I think, except with American policy dominating.

I'll agree with The Source on this one. There will be very little impact since he was more of a figurehead than someone who really directed the company and made vital decisions on how the business should be run.

What does he anything have to do with "Echo Chrome"? The game is from Japan studio. Sony Japan studios do produce interesting games such as "Locoloco" and "PixelJunk monsters".

Might make them more hardcrore oriented. That's about it.

He's already secured a decent number of casual games though, and Sony Japan will likely try to capture wii market share anyway.

So probably not much no.

That's the only thing you have to say?

It's not that you aren't correct -- thanks for correcting me on that one. It's that I listed eight games as examples, and those examples were only given to emphasize a larger point: Harrison was the one pushing for more social gaming in Sony. I assume, based on your response, that all the other examples are correct, and that my general point was reasonable?
