Forums - Nintendo Discussion - My prediction on what nintendos next console will be like.

I think this was already discussed, but here is my prediction. Note, I don't remember what I said last time:

Controller: It will be a massive evolution from the Wii Remote. So advanced and innovative that I can't imagine how could it be.

CPU and GPU: Nintendo and ATi will develop a custom GPGPU, solely for their next console. It's gonna be cheap, small and cool, at less than 22nm. Probably a Multi-Core design in it. All games will be in HD plus the mandatory SD, just in case.

RAM and storage: Will feature a unified memory architecture, using at least 4GB of GDDR6 RAM. It will use a SSHDD, but it will not be that big. Blu-ray? Don't think so.

Overall performance will be at around 4x of the PS3, that means something like a current top-end PC, but in a much smaller package

In the 'others' department, it's gonna feature a massively improved online service, much more intuitive and easier. Probably gonna feature some kind of downloadable media service, aside from the usual game stuff. Mandatory WiFi, Bluetooth, BC, and etc.'s. No physical media movie playback.

It's gonna sell for $250.

WHere do you think the next console will stand graphically to sony's and microsoft's next.

Sony's next? There won't be a Sony's next. They have the winning format now, so they'll stop making consoles...

I see Microsoft's being the most advanced, around 20% more powerful than Nintendo's. I see Sony's almost on par with Nintendo's, but a bit less advanced and a bit more expensive (because Bluray)

Oh I also predict that the wii mote won't be a wii mote but a controller in some other type of more confortable shape. It will have built in grips and a more reliable strap.

Whatever they can make for $200 and sell for $250 is what they will make. I would imagine some sort of system around the same strength as the PS3. But better in some area's due to cheap prices and worse in others. I would like to hope for something along the lines of Home for online with mii's. I also think they will use advanced wii-mote technology with the PSeye to make more immersion in there games.

I think you're pretty much spot on with this prediction. So the big question is: What will they cut back on in order to achieve a $200 cost?

I'm not going to make a full prediction, but I am going to add that I think the Wii 2 will have a bluray drive. In ~5 years the cost should have dropped considerably, and it will have considerable market penetration in PCs and home theatres.

I think it shouldnt be WiiVR it should be super Wii.

^ But that isn't original.

The next Wii console will use a controller style that is much like current Wiimote, but moreso. The speaker quality will be improved, it will have dual accelerometers to better calculate it's movement, it will have an upgraded camera that can be used similar to how the PSeye works on top of sensing infrared points. The B button will be able to sense pressure, much like how the R and L button worked on the gamecube controller.
The nunchuk will have a microphone built into it, taking the place of where the c button is on the current nunchuk. The C button will be below the Z button, making it easier to press with the middle finger, and will essentially be a mouse wheel turned sideways so you can roll or click it. the Z button will be pressure sensitive much how the B button is on the updated Wiimote. The nunchuck will also have rumble capability.

Of course, the Wii will obviously be updated, probably not quite up to the level of PS3 or 360, but close enough, depending on how cheap the the various electronics have come down. The most important issue is that the NuWii(New Wii) will be backwards compatible with ALL Wii controllers (wii remote, classic controller, balance board, etc) and will be able to play the entire library of Wii games. Many NuWii games will even take advantage of the ability to use the old Wii remotes if you want to have a multiplayer game, but don't have enough NuWiimotes for everyone.

Seppukuties is like LBP Lite, on crack. Play it already!
