Forums - Gaming - New Splinter Cell game this holiday season, 360 exclusive

I just received the new Game Informer and was pleased to see that a new SC game is on its way. It's called Conviction and is a radical departure from previous SC games. No high-tech stuff, it's more like The Fugitive than MGS. The good news is that the game is back at Ubisoft Montreal, the creators of the original SC and Chaos Theory, the two best games in the series IMO.

I'm pretty excited about this. The stuff they're doing with crowd control and blending in look very cool. After enjoying half of Double Agent while getting annoyed at the other half (designed by Ubisoft Shanghai) and seeing the screens for this game, I'm looking forward to seeing how they plan to transition the series to further compliment next-gen hardware.

I hadn't heard anything about this game before today. What do you guys think of the SC series?

I honestly think ubisoft is milking their franchises like ghost recon, rainbow six and splinter cell way too much. I mean this must have been in development even before double agent was released. Though as long as it's good i'll be happy.

It was in development while Double Agent was being made.

I'm just glad to see SC back in the Montreal studio where it belongs.

I think this Christmas is way too crowded for the Xbox 360. It's too bad some of these franchises couldn't have been spread out better to avoid and slow times. It seems like it's either feast or famine.  I can't help but wonder if they're all going to eat at each other's sales.

unfortunately MS can't control their third parties lineups, and they'll release their games to increase their own sales (ie, at Christmas time) rather than share the love and sell consoles.
