You folks are ridiculous. Honestly, it's impossible for some of you to see or make sense. Anaemic. What a joke.

This. Apparently if sony consoles doesn't sell wii like numbers, then they are underperforming. People always forgot that sony consoles sell by longevity, it was never frontloaded.
This thread is basically a bunch of old arguments repeated for the 7 millionth time...

Shocking right?

This thread is hilarious, the guy has a really good point. The why doesn't matter, it just is. And then a majority of the responders are doing precisely what he says is irrelevant...making excuses. I look forward to each new post.

Not really, it's what I expected when I first saw you post this thread :P
A lot of the responses are funny though XP

Unfortunately, we don't have solid numbers for the consoles before that for any single month, but the PS2 was selling quite strongly (I've at least found evidence that, in the US alone, PS2 was selling over 250,000 units a month in the early months of 2001). The point, though, is that people didn't consider the PS3 or Xbox 360 to be selling all that well at this point in their lives, and the PS4 isn't doing that much better in terms of weekly sales. Sales around launch are irrelevant - those are driven by short-term hype. Even Sony itself noted that PS3 was selling poorly in 2007 (source). |
I think that was more so considering what they had came from with the PS2. So of course that was poorly for them. But the PS4 is currently out pacing the PS3 so it indeed seems to be doing well. And people were saying that just to down play things that didn't work in their favor. Yhe Xbox360 was MILES ahead of what the orginal XB had done so there it is NO WAY it was selling "poorly" and the PS3 at the same time was selling better(aligned anyway) than what the 360 did. Poor compared to what it should have been coming from the PS2 but that just goes to show no gens are the same and things happen differently.
The absence of evidence is NOT the evidence of absence...

Funny how I talked about 2007/2008 and you almost only consider 2007. Now I remember that it was more about 2008, when the PS3 was at the same 400€ PS4 is now. Aside from the launching period, it is clear in your graphic that PS4 does about 3 bars (150k) and then it declines to 2 bars (100k) while in 2008 PS3 does about 3 bars (150k) most of the time.
And funny how you entirely forget about the Wii, which did far better than both PS3 and PS4 along the months of the first 2 years disregarding the launch period (which I have to ignore since this thread the about a video talking about the PS4 sales today).
So I guess I was right when I said the weekly 100k PS4 is doing now is bad, since it's even worse than what PS3 did back in 2008 and far worse than Wii. And, regardless of my initial lack of precision (when I said 2007 or 2008) since I was recalling past memories without checking any chart, there's no way you can tell PS4 is doing good right now as the video says. Sundin13 and I were right.
Prediction made in 14/01/2014 for 31/12/2020: PS4: 100M XOne: 70M WiiU: 25M
Prediction made in 01/04/2016 for 31/12/2020: PS4: 100M XOne: 50M WiiU: 18M
Prediction made in 15/04/2017 for 31/12/2020: PS4: 90M XOne: 40M WiiU: 15M Switch: 20M
Prediction made in 24/03/2018 for 31/12/2020: PS4: 110M XOne: 50M WiiU: 14M Switch: 65M

Funny how the equivalent to 2007/2008 in this comparison is 2014/2015. So, no wonder he almost exclusively looks at 2007, since 2015's numbers don't exist and won't...for another 17 months (for all of 2015), and 2014's won't be done for another 5.

Many believed on those words at the end of the 7th generation, calling crazy to whom didn't believe the PS3 would outsell the Wii on total hardware sales.
Call me crazy but I believe PS4 will have less sales' longevity than PS3, just like PS3 had less than PS2.
