Forums - Microsoft - MS's Harvey Eagle: Doesn't personally see graphical differences, says resolution differences a 'perception challenge'

So he is saying there is no difference between 1080p and 720p less than 60" TV? Lol. He needs to check his eyes again.

It's pathetic, everyone knows the difference, what is even sadder is MS is doing this knowing some in the american media and fans will latch unto it as gospel, it's sad. There is a big difference on even a small screen. Heck the smooter edges alone make a big difference.

IGN couldn´t tell COD:Ghosts campain prepatch was running at 720p.

That and MGS-GZ were the only games with the massive resolution delta and still people had hard time figuring which was which, even when you know where to look at (jagged lines at the back ground).

As I said before, the resolution gate is closing, the "Ambient Oclusion" and "Screen Thear" are the new bullet point for console warriors, just wait for Destiny and COD:AW.

As many games now run on lower res on x1 as they did at launch, and then there is the fact that like other games X1 will have worse shadows, Ambient occlusion will be missing, worse performance, etc.. Resolution is only 1 aspect. ps4 does it easier without concessions..fact./

I don´t understant what you are saying or why quote my post.

I don´t know what you do for a living, but you are clearly no game developer or programer. But go and look at COD Ghost one of the only 2 games with resolution delta at 1080p/720p. People couldn´t tell de difference until some at NeoGaf did a pixel counting.

Please, stick to the facts and don´t derail the thread

Umm they didnt notiuce the diff because the ps4 version at first was 720p..the same as x1 LOL. It was easily seen once it was patched to 1080p.

lol.. anything to make x1 console owners sleep better at night, i guess. "Rez doesn't matter! Can't see the difference in graphics!", yet, has to take 10% GPU back from kinect to TRY and reach 1080/60/30 instead of oddnumber/60/30/20. if graphics and res wasn't important.. then why try so hard or even bother trying to achieve res and fps parity with the ps4, especially with 3rd party games? just admit most games won't achieve it on the x1 due to hardware limitations and move on. not continue to try and spin something now because 1) can't achieve it so now it doesn't matter or 2) sacrifice fps, res, AA, etc = uglier game.. to try and achieve it. figure most x1 gamers would prefer stable 720/60/30 instead of getting a gimped 1080/60/30/20 with screen tearing and graphics compromised.

Man.. I hate it when your girl has to leave my place to come back to you..

You can try it yourself.

Unless you know what you are looking for (jagged lines and blured textures ate the background) you will think both images are the same.

And you have to spend more than 1/60 second to find them.

I cann see the difference immediastely..need glasses?.. Also compressed screens are terrible, in motion the difference is easily seen. You are talking double the pixels, that is a LOT moe detail and smoother edges, if you think double the pixles makes no difference to image quality I have a unicorn to sell you.

Just accept it bro.

Digital foundry...look it up.

The point of the guy´s coment wasn´t if the IQ is or is not better overral.

But the human (regular player) perception. Digital Foundry, NeoGaf, VGChartz and IGN, most of those comunities are not regular players. They are hardcores, they love to be hardcore. And they have a console wars to fight. They have to talk and use obscure terminology to define fine grain details in gaming that, again, most of human beings wouldn´t noticed or wouldn´t care.

COD was a point out of the curve. The "standard" delta we are seeing this first generation of games is 1080p/900p. And more and more games are pulling a resolution parity from this hollydays foward.

But look again at both images, they are not compressed. If you have few seconds to guess which console or PC a image is from you will get confused, even in motion. May be if you have a 60" TV and you are at the optimal distance the work might be easier.

Microsoft are not stupid. They have a lot of feedback from developers while developing the XOne. Do you think if 1080p was a thing that every game developer demand wouldn´t they changed the specs?

The fact is that most developers don´t care for the final resolution of their games. This is possible the last item in their priority list.

All images are compressed LMAO. Any human with eyes can see double the pixles on screen..fact, even on a small screen. Stop kidding yourself, it's embarassing.

So there it is. IF you load the games up on 60 inch TVs right next to each other, there is a difference.

Not sure how that really matters in a more practical gaming environment....

It is not there this is PR speak from a company who is trying to spin, do you believe everything PR folks say?  If there is no diff why is MS pushing to keep improving the resolution, and why can many see the difference on there 1phone screens? Articles like this insult peoples intelligence.

I know that it is PR speak.

The more humorous part is how people have blindly accepted the forum dwellers opinoins.  Of course the PS4 is more powerful than the XB1.  Of course in most of the multiplats, the PS4 has better graphics.  The real point is that the PR guy is right to a point.  Unless you are putting them side by side on larger screens, the differences are hardly noticeable if you are just playing the game, not trying to count pixels.

I would hope by this point people aren't debating the power difference between the two consoles(PS4>XB1), but more concerned about the exclusives and gameplay.

It is near the end of the end....

Forum Dwellers???? It is a scientific fact 1080p looks betgter then 720p, on even a small screen..period, right forum dweller?  hE IS NOT RIGHT AT ALL, ABOUT ANYTHING. They are easily noticeable, heck even in small compressed images you can see it, let alone on a decent TV in motion where it is much more pronounced.  Double the pixels is a fairly noticeable difference, a lot of extra detail, smoother edges.

What is humourous is seeing fans of a certain console saying now resolution dopesn;t matter when it always has since eternity. Ask any PC gamer playing a game then cranking the res up from 720p to 1080p means.... It's silly, MS is pushing gamnes to go higher and the entire industry is, why not keep all xbox games at 720p then? Total denial.
