Oh god really?

Lets look at the current situation.

PC, Android, iOS, PS, Xbox, Nintendo

There isn't room for 3? Bull f'n shurt. There is more platforms in the game than you think. What I see here is a Nintendo hater thread and butthurt fanboys who want NIntendo IPs on their trashy platforms....

http://www.gamespot.com/articles/iwata-explains-why-nintendo-wont-release-its-games-on-other-platforms/1100-6412687/

I know you're new here, but them be ban-worthy words.

It's an opinion. This entire thread is clickbait

Just warning ya. People have been banned for less. Keep it more civil in the future (i.e "this is a clickait thread, there's no way Nintendo will release games on mobile platforms"), rather than personally attacking an opinion.

I'm not a mod, so you don't have to listen to me, just friendly advise though.

So, M$ will leave. Sad, but only room for 2 consoles right?

Would be ideal actually, the problem is MS has so much money that they can really just stay in this business forever if they want.

It seems like their new CEO, Nadella is actually a pretty big proponent of the XBox brand though, so I don't think its going anywhere. They're already hiring engineers for the next-gen XBox it looks like.

From the aeticle that was posted about  what he had said, they will keep the Xbox brand around no matter what because it basically does most of their R&D for other products so it pays for itself in other ways than profit.  Sony would go before the other two, their buisness isn't nearly as profitable and Nintendo has always found ways to be profitable. I would prefer all three to stay around due to the possible innovation and industry standards each contributes.

Make it So.

That's why MS should give up.

They would be able to take advantage of more powerful hardware, their input obviously isn't worth much to Nintendo at this point. What respect do they need on other platforms? Their games would sell that's all the respect they need.

Nintendo still proves power isn't everything. Besides the games they currently have released are beautiful and still would suffer under other platforms. They wouldn't sell better at all. Take Sonic as an example, Sega has been having problems for eons selling any Sonic game. Remember, Nintendo games are quoted as "for kids" even if they have mature themes. Legend of Zelda isn't "for kids", but people love to make it out that it is. They would have zero respect as a developer for other platforms and game sales would suffer intensely from that. Trust me, we all aren't Michael Pachter, we actually think in reality.

Yea that's sonic. Sega doesn't only make Sonic though. And if they did that would be their issue, Sonic belongs in the 90s like a bunch of other characters I know of.  Nintendo's games wouldn't suffer on other platforms, they'd be probably better. I don't know what this "respect" is that you're talking about. I don't get it, why would they lose the respect that they have now? This is just some weird rationalizing or something.

I also think that console gaming is too crowded for three players.

Generally speaking I think this is a big part of Nintendo's problem too. There just isn't a need/or a desire from the general audience (outside of Nintendo fans

There you go boy, we are millions so they have their place.

I wouldnt mind sony or MS leaving though.

It's not weird rationalizing or anything. Their games would sell significantly worse. The reason people on those platforms don't play Nintendo games is because there is NO Nintendo games on those platforms. Nintendo games have a unique charm that would be lost if the IPs were multiplatform. It's not that hard to understand. Look in the eyes of a developer. Most of the Rare staff that made the good Nintendo games left after MS bought them, look at Conker and Banjo. They had life on Nintendo platforms. Now they are husk being paraded around like trophies.

Nintendo was here first they should stay

Pretty sure Atari was doing gaming stuff before Nintendo..

Actually Nintendo is a much older company than Atari and was doing video games at the same time as them. Google the Color tv 6 and 15.

I'm sorry but the the daily routines are not complex at all. Shenmue did it first and better. Nintendo plays it much safer than sony at the very least. Nintendo uses Mario so much for a reason.

Reusing characters is such a witch hunt.  It shouldn't even matter because so what, games are about gameplay, not storyline.  They play an element, but a tiny one. Im far more offended by the fact that Sony is turning their console into a media station first and a game console second.  Things like using PS3 to push the Blu-Ray format.  Then the fact that all their games are becoming half cinematic and half gameplay.

Sony plays it way safer, they hardly do anything original or risky.  The Wii alone proves that a hundred times over.  Then theres Nintendo's back catalog of failed ideas Virtual Boy, Rob the Robot, Power Glove.  Sony's entire history has pretty much just been copy what works for the other two and see how the fans react.
