My thought process is that Retro will be developing either Metroid, 3D DK, or a new ip/resurrection of an old IP. Would you be okay with Retro's new game coexisting with Monster's DKR 2?

If Amiibo is a success, there is no telling how successful DKR2 will be (or Retro's game if it uses Amiibo).

I just dont see the need for another Kart racer. The WiiU already has 3 of them.

There are a ton of stuff they can do with the Amiibos.

It wouldn't be any old kart racer, though. The rumor states that you will be riding on animal buddies (or vehicle forms of those guys) from the DKC series. With an adventure mode included, the experience would be completely different.

Completely different? I dont know about that.

There are a ton of other Nintendo IPs they could choose from. DKR should be very low on that list.

DKR for the 64 was very successful. It was even in the Guiness World Record as the fastest selling game from that time. Now, I am not saying this one will replicate that success, but it isn't something Nintendo should completely ignore.

Yeah, maybe not completely different, but it will be different enough from MK8 and Sonic ASR. It will also be an ambitious take on the racing genre if you are riding on animals. I don't know any games that do that.

Well the people who loved the original probably loved the characters as well. Most of them cant be in DKR2 since they belong to Rare.

Sure someone could make the game, but it sounds like a huge project that would take up alot development time and money. If they are going to do that, they might as well make a new IP based on the Amiibos instead.

I love all of the characters from the original but, from the casual gamer stand point, the only one who is recognizable is Diddy. I would argue that Diddy's mildly low popularity would be much more beneficial than them making a new character who the public wouldn't recognize or probably won't care for.

With DK's surge in popularity from DKCR, making a racing game from that series would be a better business decision. And what better way to do that than to bring back a beloved racing game from the N64 days that those old fans would recognize.

I just liked idea of Diddy leading a bunch of 'nobodies' from Nintendo's lesser franchises in order for them to become Nintendo's next big star. A hipster version of MK just sounds awesome!

It would be Diddy Kong Racing 2......with Amiibo support.

Much better to have something like Amiibo World! Everyone would understand what the game was for.

I already don't know what it is for. For DKR2, I already know what it is.

If you want Monster games to develop a new IP, Wave Race, or F-Zero, than I guess I could understand some disappointment. But the team has developed the Excite series and DKCR3D. Their skills are in the racing genre, and they are familiar with DK. They could use the DK and the Excite series assets which would save alot of money.

Its not that I dont want them to make it. Its because of how big the project sounds. This would probably be their big holiday 2016 release and Im not sure many people would be excited for it.

Last year was 3D World, this year is SSB and next year its probably Zelda. Those franchises you release during the holidays. Not some second-rate Kart game...

I am sad you feel that DKR2 would be second rate. But judging from this poll and many people online, alot of people would be excited for this game. The only reason why there are so many votes for no is because some people here believed Retro will be the main developer which isn't the case.

If they knew that now, most of them would reconsider.

I know you might not think it is worth it. I can dig with that. You might be right. But you also might be in for a surprise.
