I actually think the GF and junctioning system were pretty awesome. But it never got a chance to flourish because the battles themselves were completely boring.

Nobuo Uematsu also wrote one of his best scores for this game.

Honestly, FFVIII could have been much worse. But IMO, the bad far outweighed the good in this game.  It is the only Final Fantasy game that I've beaten, but haven't replayed.

One of the first things I ever do when playing it is make my GFs learn abilities to extract magic from items. After that, I don't think I hardly ever 'draw', except Aura when needed...that with Meltdown makes battles all that much easier.:P

The junction system was awesome in my view, made the game to be honest.
