I am extremely curious to see how MCC will boost sales. I mean, it's a pretty cool bundle but I dunno how the old games will hold up and the newer Halo games would still be fresh in people's minds so maybe not worth it.

But it could also be huge with Halo 5 beta included. I think the original Crackdown had a Halo beta and a lot of people bought it for that reason. And they got the added bonus that Crackdown was a great game.

Anyways, I don't know why you are facepalming, like what i am saying is somehow unimaginable. But I will say it again, and not just because one console is selling well without games as you put it.

Games is not going to solve the wiiU's problem. Its sales are not low due to a lack of games, and with every major game release there will no doubt be a boost in sales. But going from 120k/month to 200k/month only on the month of a big release and crashing again is nothing to be happy about. And trends like that should tell you that (again), games will not solve the wiiU's problem.

MK8 is more of a system seller than SSB, but SSB is coming at the right time. IF there is a decent price cut, I could see respectable WiiU hw sales this holiday.

Zelda will sell a good number of U's as well.

Negative for SSB = available on 3DS, and TONS of people have 3DS. So there will be fewer people that absolutely have to buy a U to play that game. It will help 3DS though, so all in all not a bad move (and the hardcore fans will buy BOTH, hah).

MCC is not going to be a huge hardware seller. People that think that have lost the plot. Halo 5 could very well end up being a huge system seller if it's done right, but rehashes are not going to be huge. The industry has moved on from the old Halo days. The games are dated, that's why they tried to make Halo of Duty to chase COD with H4. Series decline. COD, GTA, Assassin's Creed, etc are system sellers these days. Destiny looks 'destined' to be the next major multiplat to move epic numbers.

And they will move people to new gens. Exclusives are for loyal fans to bicker over, but the mega sellers are never exclusives for PSBox any more. Nintendo OTOH, ONLY exclusives are big sellers for their home consoles.

I think you have waaay too much faith in SSB or MCC. Especially the latter. Heres the thing about remakes, they are fan service... not system sellers. People are not waiting for a MCC to buy an XB1. And now SSB is the biggest hardware pusher? I though that was supposed to be MK8... and I am assuming that after SSB it will e Zelda. Ah well, just so you know;  games will not fix the wiiUs problem.

 

The internet constantly shifts between "games wont sell a console" to "games sell the console!" all the time

Both of those follow the same sentiments. Last gen saw console sales go from one starting off dominant and then being beaten on a weekly basis. He says that won't be repeated. I happen to agree. Thus, the 6th gen, 5th gen, and this gen, are/will not be anything like the 7th gen.

Thats kinda obvious being that their are no major third party games on the wiiU. The only way i see destiny, CoD and AC moving the kinda hardware numbers I believe they really could if if they were only coming first to current gen by at least 6 weeks. But as long as they release day and date on last gen consoles too, it will just leave a lot of people on the fence.

I haven't placed an expectation on final tallies, but I do think, at this juncture, the PlayStation will remain dominant throughout - like the 5th and 6th generations.

Percentage wise maybe. I don´t see the PS4 reaching more than 70 Million units.

I was hoping MS didn't give the XBO optimal conditions in Europe, for it's own sake. (Those sales are seriously terrible.)
