Is noone surprised with the price? 200€ ? Are they now like Sony with their PS Vita memory cards?

Don't see why they can't make the existing Xbox One version work with PCs rather than a whole new version.

Money. M$ is anti-consumer. I thought you knew that already. M$ is not the beloved.

The sarcasm is strong with this one. If these fields need a 200$ gaming accessory to advance, then maybe what theyre doing is not that important...

before oculus rift came out vr was so expensive and far behind that advancements never came and now its $250, if that industry needed a $250 gadget to advance where the ones that cost thousands of dollars couldnt go before, does that mean that oculus is a waste of time?

people arent going to innovate and screw around with medical equipment that costs more than the home that they live in because they can't mistakes and can't get to it. But now there is a advanced camera with full motion tracking and ridiculous detail recognition for $200 with full development support, compatible with one of the largest brands and OS with full plug and play support where the development tools and hardware are presented to them, where they didnt need to spend billions prototyping or spend thousands upon thousands for a one off thermal, infared, 3D 1080p camera. Where the 3d motion tracking, facial regocnition and so on is done for them.

Who are you to say that what people do with it isnt important, maybe they use the kinect as a proof of concept to test their invention without risking 50k worth equipment and software engineering, before going on to make something better. Maybe the kinect enables people to invent an innovate where it wasnt possible before (obviously it does since thats what we see).

some quadraplegics already benefit from the kinect and what it can do with windows support. Are they not important?

Maybe you should try doing a YouTube search on something like... "Kinect medical uses".

MS just puts it on the PC for developers to play with and it seems there have been a lot of interesting uses of the technology. The importance of what people do with it is subjective.

I saw some stuff that looked cool, but if a doctor pulled out a Kinect before operating on me, I would have alot of questions about his education and the hospital in general. Maybe its great, but someone could make a camera like that without having the mental image of your doctor playing Kinect Sports before you doze off.

I think the moral of the story is people considered important see potential in the technology.

These videos on YouTube show Xbox is merely scratching the surface of what Kinect can be used for.

"Im sorry mrs. Johnson. A nurse came in and uttered the words Xbox Off.......and Im afraid your son didnt make it..."

Its not the technology itself, but just saying Kinect in any kind of medical prosedure would scare the hell out of me. It would be like laying on the operating table and the doctor goes: "Nurse, fetch me...the power glove.......and turn on the karaoke machine, because its time to OPERATE!!!"

I get really frustrated with the Kinect, Im afraid the doctor wont get it right and just go "FUCK THIS THING!!!....UGH I COULD JUST KILL SOMEONE!!!........SCALPEL!!!"

Im sorry. I just had to get those out of the way:)

If the Kinect can seriously improve the way doctors do their work, then I wont say anything against it. It is an advanced piece of technology, but I just dont see it being used by many hospitals. They might get the idea from Kinect and make something dedicated to the doctors needs though.

How did the last one sell? It was a big deal when they released the first kinect for Windows but we never found out how it did.

If that was the case I don't think they would be $200.

The original Kinect was released for PC as well. I get the impression you may not be aware.
