Forums - Gaming - Will the Elder Scrolls VI manage to look better than Skyrim with mods?

So, I've been playing Skyrim again recently, and I've been blown away with just how great the game looks with over a hundred mods, ranging from ENB to thunderstorms, running at the same time. The PS4/One probably would not be able to handle that level of graphics, since even the most powerful graphics cards have trouble sometimes running the very heavy mods.

This has me worried about the vanilla version of Elder Scrolls VI. I don't see how Bethesda will be able to top the thousands of modders that have molded the PC version of Skyrim into the best looking game of any generation. There was a decent upgrade from Oblivion with mods to vanilla Skyrim, but I just don't see how that happens now.

I just don't see how Bethesda tops these.

I just hope I can upgrade my PC for the game, I have to put Skyrim at the lowest settings to play it properly.

And no, it won't look as good as Skyrim with mods. They should concentrate in making the world as big and full of elements as possible anyway. Let the modders do the magic.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

Nope, they will probably look equally good! Also, the Elder Scrolls VII might look worse than VI with mods since modders are getting better and better with each passing year!

I agree 100%. Wise words.

ENB quickly drags my PC to a friggen crawl in Skyrim. One of these days I will have the time/money to drop on a new PC that can run it properly. The game is so great and with all the mods available it is even better. Also, can't wait for Skywind to be done.

Sure. Just make sure your computer has good specs before you start. IGN actaully listed quite a few of the ones I use in a recent article. Check them out.

Also, check out Apachii Sky Hair and Enchanced Character Edit if you are looking to vastly upgrade the looks of people.

There are even more that you can install to better tailor your experiences, and I would check out Nexus for those. Just install the manager after making an account, and the manager will do all the hard work for you.

looking at those pics, and looking at a game like uncharted 4... I don't see what in those pics won't be achievable on the PS4. Albeit running at 30fps.

The real question is, how will the elder scrolls 6 be with "Mods"?

another thing to consider is that the mds aren't hogging down PCs simply cause they are running ridiculously powerful code or assets. They are at the end of the day mods. Mostly along the lines of increased texture quality and detail (which in turn require more mem bandwith to stream), better lightning settings (its not like they are writing new code for the lighting, they are just tweaking levels already in the engine, and other tweaks like AA, DOF, AF...etc.

They hog down systems cause the games engine wasn't designed on a base code level to run most of what they are doing, Its quite literally the epitome of running unoptimized code and/or assets.

Of course not. The game wouldn't sell if they tried that because only 10,000 or so people would be able to run it.
