N64: Mario 64; Ocarina of Time; F-Zero X; Star Fox 64; Majora's Mask; Paper Mario; Smash Bros; Sin and Punishment; Mario Kart 64; etc

Wii: all of the above.

Well it doesnt beat the NES and SNES imo, but its hard not to give it credit for everything it did for the industry.

It's pretty obvious PS2 is going to win. I think anyone could have predicted that before this started. I suppose it "deserves" it.

Most people would be insulted by a comparison between the greatness that is PS2 or those consoles and it's especially insulting to compare the PS2 to the Genesis or the N64. 

The only consoles that even come close to matching the PS2 are PS1 or WII. 


You do realize I mean quality not quantity. NES, Genesis, N64, and SNES all had greater quality than the PS2

I could have included a few more consoles but I think I made my point. I do count GameCube games, but several of the most notable ones were re-released on Wii, anyway.

Then it looks like the PC elitists were right. It is the best device to play games on since it can emulate pretty much every console from the 6th gen down...

But this is the console elimination game, not the device elimination game.

We can debate whether the R4 card makes the DS the greatest handheld ever in another thread.

@Bold I do realize that this is quality and not quantity but that's precisely why PS2 won.

The quality of the PS2 is unparalleled even today! Hence why the highest selling system is the best of best and the cream of the crop. Why else do consumers unanimously agree ? 

The Genesis and N64 ended up being failures, the SNES was a decline from the NES, and while the NES may have saved the north american console gaming it did not save gaming altogether as a whole as gaming was thriving elsewhere despite the fact that the crash only happened in one region.
