Forums - Gaming - Anyone else feel games without achievements/trophies are a waste of time?

Indeed, trophies and achievements add a sense of reward and allow a gamer to share their gaming "cv" with other gamers around the world, so we can say they're one of the reasons to play a game 2-3 times. If the game is bad, though, it will be bad with or without achievements. So i agree with you: a great game with achievements is even better, especially when they are well conceived to let you enjoy the game to the fullest.
I must say, when I play a game without achievements I fell like something's amiss,
If MK8 had trophies I'd still be playing it to obtain the damn platinum.

The OP is the opposite of how I feel.

I think playing games for "gamerscore" or trophies in general is a waste of time! If you don't get any fulfilment from actually PLAYING THE GAME, but are just playing to get a trophy, there is something seriously wrong.

I'm going to guess you hated gens 1 through 6 😁

Didn't play 1-4 but loved 5-6. Did a lot of the same things then trying to complete everything and loved it. But now I can do that AND get achivements/trophies.

eg. after trying yummy jam on your toast why would you ever go back to just plain toast again?

Because plain toast rewarded you For your Efforts and yummy jam toast says congratulations now buy the DLC for What you should have been rewarded with 😁😁

Yeah I think the same thing. I don't feel motivated to play and complete games without achievements.

Sense of achieving something with their life?

Which is the motivation that drives us all in everything we do.

Lol no its not. I don't game to feel like I've achieved something. I game to enjoy an experience. The end goal isn't important, it's the experience getting their. If all I cared about was the end goal I would have platinumed Hannah Montana already 😁

So it's not fun striving for an end goal?

I guess we better call off the World Cup since none of the players have fun with it and are only in it for a stupid trophy and prize money.

You do know where your fun in games comes from right? All these little achievements within the game that give you the dopamine shot your brain craves. Virtually the same as a big dopamine shot at the end of an achievement.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

wow Thats quite serious...

I'm kinda reluctant to get/play games without them on platforms that have them (i.e. early PS3 games) but I have no problem with games without them on platforms that don't have them.

I dislike achievements and trophies. I used to try to get them all, but realized I was more interested in increasing a meaningless number and getting 100% of the trophies/achievements than enjoying the game on its own merits.

It really makes no difference to me. Sometimes I prefer they don't have any as my OCD can make things difficult to fully enjoy.
