By the same logic they should ban 18+ movies in Australia as well in case the kids do get their hands on them?

Well, I must say that Australia is full of individuals who aren't out of their fucking minds at all...........right?!

This would really suck for WA. A lot of games now are given an R18 rating that would have been MA15 under the old classifications.
Anyway not surprised. Australia can't catch a break with our damn government.
Wait wait wait, WA is wanting R18+ rating gone because it sexualises children?
I guess the only game that comes to mind is Atelier Rorona Plus which is R18+ for some reason.

Thing is even Last of Us was still edited despite being R18+

Christ even as opposition the Labor party try to damage our country more. Hopefully they just ignore her and her batshit ideas.

They wanted to make the 3ds Dead or Alive game R+18 as well....... so their problem was it sexualised underaged childern so they wanted to make it so only adults could play it :S

Oh right I remember something like that, but Dead or Alive on 3DS is M here, its not even MA15+ (the next higher rating classification here).

Yeah, but Conroy was trying to implement a mandatory ISP filter that would monitor all traffic into the country and block any blacklisted sites - a list which, as far as I can tell, was determined behind closed doors with no accountability. As you can imagine, this was pretty unpopular with... well... pretty much everyone. Not only was it going to slow down Australia's already pathetic internet, but when the blacklist was leaked, it was revealed that there was a ton of perfectly legal stuff on it and, in fact, most of the list had nothing to do with the reasons that Conroy was using to justify the filter.
In the end, it was just kind of quietly abandoned. It was never popular to begin with and, to be honest, I don't really understand why they bothered to drag it out for as long as they did. They had to know it would never get the necessary support to go through. Or, at least, you'd think they would. But then, Conroy never did strike me as the brightest guy in the world...

It wouldn't be so bad if our internet wasn't still in the dark ages. Or maybe it's just me. I don't know. I'm sure the capital cities and whatnot have good internet but I certainly don't. I guess this is part of the reason I'm less enthusiastic than some about the whole "digital future" thing. I couldn't download a AAA game if I wanted to. And then I hear people talking about how we'll all be streaming everything in a few years. Uh... yeah... I can guarantee you that I won't be.
Certainly not if our government has anything to say about it. At least we had a fibre rollout happening at one point, even if the progress map did say that my area was still years away from construction. But since the change of government, I can't seem to find any kind of a projection on my area. All it says now is that it's not available where I live. I don't know if the rollout has been scaled back, or maybe axed altogether. Maybe some of the other Aussies on here know.
Er... anyway... that was kind of a mini rant. Sorry about that. This kind of thing does tend to get on my nerves.

I looked at the four members of this committee and they are all women aged in their forties and fifties who look like they have never played a video game in their life let alone an adult one.
If they come we will fight this every step of the way.
