I'll never understand any praise that the N64 controller gets. It's downright awful.

Wii U will have the best controller options for a Nintendo console once the GC adapter hits. Gamepad, Wii Remote
Plus, Controller Pro...you don't see them trying to bring back that N64 weird looking piece of plastic,

I personally love the Gamecube controller. the n64 controller i love the looks of it but those joysticks man

wii mote is the worst i hate having to use it and nun chuck at the same time its really awkward and annoying

I can't decide for myself what is the worst, but I love the Wii remote. Playing Galaxy with it is some of the best feelings I've got in a game, ever. The way you shake the controller to make Mario jump just a little bit higher is in my opinion, amazing. It was great in 2007, and still is.

It may not be as great for Smash or even Kart, but it's a great remote. I like it better than GC, in some games. Depends on the game really.

Wii mote=N64.Both were horrendous.

Definitely the Gamepad. The Wiimote was awesome. Headshots in MW:Reflex and RE4 were super easy! The Wii U gamepad is going backwards. Thumbstick controls suck, IMO. AIm and shoot makes a lot more sense than push up on a stick and press the R2 button.

BTW the N64 controls were a C+ at best. =P

An unpopular opinion, but I voted GC because it's the only Nintendo controller without a meaningful innovation. Pressure sensitive buttons have mostly just confused users and I've always despised the radial layout. On the other hand, wireless in the Wavebird…

Voting N64 is silly, since the analog stick was such a monumental success that even today the industry can hardly imagine making games without one.

Wiimote is almost as silly, since it stood up to the scorn of the entire industry and won.

I suppose this entire poll is further proof that despite gamers always talking about how they want new experiences, they really just want to stay comfortable with old experiences. And the worst business decision is to give consumers exactly what they want...

GC is comfortable and Wii is great (Wii remote, Wii motion plus, horizontal NES Wii controller, Wii remote + Nunchuck).

I serioulsy loved the Gamecube controller! Not sure why but it just worked with me and it felt weighted and solid in my hands. I know it had it's issues but those never bothred me. I played Nintendo since NES when I was like 7 years old, I think I'm REALLY weird because I didn't know anyone hated the N64 controller until I started to hear everyone saying it sucked. Those sticks bothered me and I agree it was awkward, but after a while I never really had an issue once I was used to it's awkwardness. But The Wii remote... That thing messed up so many games for me.. I didn't wanna wave my controller... I don't wanna have to plug in a special adapter to use an old controller (though obviously I've done that).. I just wanted to play my games with a controller. The motion controls especiall with motion + were awesome at times.. don't get me wrong. But of all the contollers, it was my least favorite overall.. by a big margain. 

Can I just say after replaying some of my old gamecube games today, I think my hands have legitimately grown to accommodate the GCN controller? Literally when I play MK8 after 1-2 hours my thumb gets sore from holding down the small A button. As opposed to when I played with the gamecube controller again through 3 hours of playing Double Dash with friends without having any problems...
