Don't really care. For me it's more a case of which company I don't want to make a console. That would be Apple and Google, because they are already too all powerful. I'd probably throw Samsung in there too.

In any case I think playing video games on TV is headed for a sea change and there is maybe only one (if that) more generation of traditional game console left after this one. Streaming is the future, and more than likely streaming through tablets and smartphones as well as other set top boxes like Apple TV and Android TV and Playstation TV. Actually I wouldn't be at all surprised if Sony is positioning itself to not release a PS5 and go all in with streaming.

Hardware will be uber cheap, AAA game development will cost a lot less (or rather increase a lot slower). With streaming you'll be able to play 2014 gaming PC quality games on a box that's as powerful as Wii U, or even less.

Which is to say that any comany not already in console gaming would be mad to get into it with a traditional home console.

SEGA ... the only chance we have of ever seeing Shenmue 3.

Samsung.... they would offer a price/performance ratio even better than sony. This is because they make things like GDDR5 ram, HDDs/SSDs and chip fabrication in house. A perfect match would be for them to make a console and google to make the OS of the console.

Having said that, I still secretly pray that google should make the OS for the PS4.

SEGA. But off your list, Apple. The iPip will the the successor to the Pipin, but with a good controller. Either that or Google.

Apple would ruin the gaming industry. They DON'T innovate anyone who thinks so is only kidding themselves! It would be a very, very bad thing... EA would be better off making a console and we all know how bad that would turn out....

I would actually be pretty interested in a google console though.. That's one company that does not sit on it's money (apple) and actually does something with it...Besides Apple would just sue everyone... That's the ONLY thing they are good at.

EA. They use a decent amount of IPs that they own, they make good games, and as a first party development studio, they might even bring back some of their older IPs.  I couldn't see Activision or Ubisoft being first party because other than a lot of movie shovelware or imagine shovelware titles, they've only got two series they push out left and right.

If Square Enix was good like they were in the past, then I'd like to see them create their own console.  Bandai already tried but it failed, so I'm sure they won't try again.  If they made a console rather than a portable though, with how much the Japanese likes Gundam and Dragon Ball, they might be successful.

EA and Namco would also have the most diverse first party games if they were to create their own consoles.  EA would have racing, open world racing, action/adventure, military shooter, tps, wrpg, sports, and fighting(UFC/Fight Night.)  Namco would have racing, action/adventure, tps, arcade shooter, jrpg, strategy, and fighting.
