I could count with my hands the numbers of friends who actually played The Witcher 2. I mean, it actually sold less than the first Bayonetta, despite being on the PC (sometimes for 10 bucks on steam).

Not saying the game is bad, but the new gen drought is helping this one...

technically speaking, any game that can push up to 5M sales on the PS4 would have outsold any nintendo wiiU 1st or 3rd party game. Its not even a quality thing, its just a numbers thing. If around the time the witcher 3 is released for the PS4, there are 20M PS4s (cause i expect it to be released around fall 2015) in the market, that just means there are more people for the game to sell to. So if it sells through to around 30% of the PS4 instal base, around 6.5M in sales. Any nintendo first party game will basically need to be selling through to around 65-75% of an estimated 2015 install base of around 10M.

So he is right, though not for the reasons in his post.

Witcher 3 will be awesome, but it's mainly advertised as a XO game. I hope MS doesn't manage to secure any exclusive content, cause it may hurt the sales.

When judging CD Projekt RED don't forget that they own GOG.com, so they get additional money from the service to finance the development of their games.
