Forums - Nintendo - MK8 was not made for my TV

Yeah the image quality is pretty awful if you have a decent sized TV... There are multiple low resource AA solutions Nintendo could have chosen to help the issue, but they seem to have decided to just skip out on it entirely. As i said to Curl-6 a while back, i think Nintendo optimized the game around the 2/4 player modes at the expense of the single player/online. They could have gone with a variable resolution for the different modes, but i suppose they wanted consistency.

The game itself is lovely looking though. Next time i have a WiiU in my hands i'll give it a go on the pad.

Honestly, based on my experience and others in this thread, it may be his TV that is the problem.

Fortunately, the GamePad visuals looks satisfactory

looks great on my 50' plasma

that's what the complete lack of any AA will do.

Looks alright on my TV.

Ok, I have a 46'' Samsung 1080p LED TV from like 3 years ago. I dont think it has a game mode.

How do I change the resolution that everyone here is telling me to? The resolution on my TV or on the WiiU? What would it help?

Thanks

Change the resolution on your WiiU...make sure it is outputting at 16 x 9...also, as I asked before, are you using an HDMI cable?

I got my Wii U last night and after too much technical stuff, I was finally able to play MK8.

And I must say Nintendo made a very bad job in presenting the game. First course, first zoom in on the players - tons of jaggies. So many jaggies in fact that it must be noticeable for anyone. And the funny thing about that? The most jaggies you will see in the entire game (at least the time I have played). So the first impression was a bit meh and Nintendo screwed that one up.

Then the game was quite nice looking on my TV. But the true revelation came when I switched to off-TV-play (dont want to miss any biting attacks ever again in futbol, it is so much fun!). When I started playing on the Pad, the games visuals blew me away. Stunning. Gorgeous. No jaggies.

I know, there are two factors in the equation: screen resolution (lower on the pad) and screen size (my TV is 46'', the pad not as big). But I had the feeling that the graphics got optimized for the pad, as they were perfect on it.

Your thoughts.

40" 1080p TV, no jaggies noticable

I am using the cable that was part of the WiiU package. It seems to be HDMI.

oh...yeah, I guess it does come with that.  Any luck on changing the output resolution in the WiiU?  Maybe there is the possibility that the world and this forum hyped up the visuals so much that you are experiencing hype fatigue.

I am not saying the game looks bad. I am saying there are noticeable jaggies, especially in the intro of the first racing track. It ist just more noticeable than I expected.

Currently watching futbol, so no way of testing the changed resolution, but thanks for the help.
