Forums - Gaming - People are much pessimistic with XBOX ONE

I don't think XBOX ONE is DOOMED. I just think they need a new statagy and the balls to do it and I think they will. First off though the last statagy was horrible. They should have bundled a game with the $399 kinectless sku. They had better deals with the titanfall bundle then that last sku. They just need to go for broke and I think they can pull it off because sony can't afford to go another 7 years in the red like the 100 billion they lost. This holiday XBOX ONE needs a price cut and not a "fake" one like this last time. $299 kinectless sku with a game and a $399 kinect sku with a game and 2 controllers. They made 8 billion last year they can afford to lose a bit on the console and make it up in software. The $299 sku they lose aprox $60-70 a sku and $100 for the $399 one. Say they sell 3 million this holiday half of each. $250 million dollar loss on console but they make back almost half right away if software sales and momentum will swing to Xb1. The only thing that might put a little damper on this though is Nintendo will undoughtably price cut the Wii U too. But knowing there stuberness they only drop it to $249 with a game, but if they drop it to $199 with a game or a new 500gb sku for $249, then they be in trouble. After the holidays we should have a better idea.

Yup!!! I never said in Just the Video game market.  Sony lost over 100 billion since 2007 as a company.

Man.. I hate it when your girl has to leave my place to come back to you..

think xb1 is doomed aswell meaning it wont get past what 360 did i see it passing wiiu for second pretty soon though but at this moment in time i dont see it be able to get the US crowd back and winning any territory aswell as getting much past 50-60M

i believe i pinpointed the problem i believe that there was a certain crowd of gamer that bought many 360s kinda like how the wii had a crowd/phase then when the wiiu came out many of those consumers werent interested.

the 360 did very well with mature shooter type games many posters refer to these as "dudebro" the words dude and bro were also very popular at least in my parts around those yrs 05-10. online was also new/big back then so everything felt new fresh and exciting. much like the original wii users i believe alot of these potential consumers are now gone out of the market this is one reason why we are seeing slow sales with the XB1

games like COD BF and can even be seen with XB exclusive titanfall, this experience isnt as big anymore had TF released on the 360 exclusively yrs ago you can bet your bottom dollar sales for it would of been higher. i feel like gaming interest has shifted to type of game that appeals to most recently and its not the FPS its games that arent exclusive to MS and games that arent getting timed DLC on MS consoles, its the same effect that weve seen last gen when COD and a few others got timed DLC or timed exclusive on XB360

Funny I was thinking the same thing about you. Obviously you don't understand. Just because there differnt division does not mean there differnt companies.

What's even funnier is you thinking Microsoft success means Xbox success.. But alas its a moot point when its obvious but you choose to put the blinders on.. So go ahead.. Its okay the Xbox division is in the red, but its okay because Microsoft is in the green, no thanks to xbox.. Of course you couldn't fathom that.  So go forth young warrior and continue your nonsense to someone else. Fight on the fight on.

It's not just about having a lot of money.

For Sony, the Playstation was one of the most profitable business, and after quite a fail on the PS3 launch and product, they had to take the loss to save the PS3 and continue this business. They don't have so many profitable divisions, and they can't really quickly drop the unprofitable divisions. Their PS strategy make sense, and the PS4 proves it to be somewhat successful.

For Microsoft, they are getting a lot of money from a lot of divisions, they are very profitable, and there is this one single dark little division, the XBox division, that made them loose 5 billions $. After 14 years dealing with it, it happens any hope they had for a very profitable xbox one  swimming in its blue ocean are lost. And you can tell how much they wanted a solid profit on it just by watching the expensive launch price : 500$. And again, their strategy makes sense. You don't build a successful and profitable company like Microsoft just by thinking "our pocket are deep, let's bleed money forever on some division". They have a very tight profit management, and they can drop any division very quickly.

So, MS is a very profitable company, but it doesn't mean they give any division access to eat a part of this large profit. They could, but they should not, and they are not : tight cost management (xbox memory, number of exclusive, number of internal studio), and high launch price (again, 500$). If you were in charge, perhaps you would say something like "we are MS, we have so much money, let's loose 2 billions $ to make the launch price 400$ and have 5 more AAA games at launch". But that's not how it works.

1) XBOX ONE is coming only in 13 countries.

Xbox one isn't banned from the countries that PS4 is in, considering the finacial states of both companies its frankilly embarassing that MS is getting out produced by Sony, or at least out shipped.
