Can we even race our friend's ghosts in time trials cause I cant find out how to do that? A lot of things are lacking that were in previous games. Don't get me wrong I still love Mario Kart 8 to death but I want it to be perfect haha

That's not a glitch, just bad luck! All the more reason to keep your item in hand for as long as possible rather than immediately dragging it behind you! And the only time trialing I did was beating all the staff ghost, so I wouldn't know sorry!
