Aslong as their being tracked and still in production then yes you can say 7th generation is still going one could say 6th gen is still going PS2 is still around in small quantities. Vgchartz Xbox One numbers are laughable, when NPD proves them wrong by at least 600K.

I would say 6th gen is over now because even if PS2 are still selling, it's no longer being manufactured and we can consider the final shipment data as final sold to consumer data since these units will find owners sooner or later. 7th gen still going on and I doubt we will see it end before 2018 or 2019.

Alright Torok thanks for the feeback quick question do you think PS3 and 360 will be able to outsell WII before they end production?

I think we all just need to admit that it was a statistical tie. Because Xbox's fanbase grew by a ton while PS2 fanbase dropped by a ton.

Actually, the 360 is in 3rd position. The Wii still exist and still is first. Why so many people forget about it when talking about console wars?

You know it deserves the GOTY.

At the current rate, I believe PS3 has a decent chance of doing it, but not by much. Both PS1 and PS2 sold around 40% of their LTD sales when the sucessor was out, so it gives a decent number. 360 is more difficult because it isn't selling that much units weekly, but it will do 90M or 95M and end pretty close.

He included the Wii in his post. He said 360 is officially 2nd for 7th gen because it was ahead of PS3 when 8th gen launched.

Sounds good PS3 clearly didnt live up to the potential of the PS2 and PS1 but if it beats out WII it could be the ultimate redemption for Playstation, especially with the heat they have going on with the PS4, which is destined for greatness.

PS4 will surelly do great. From what I see, PS consoles are usually marathon runners and this aspect just makes everyone predict lower sales than they usually achieve. You can see on PS1 and PS2 that in the final years the sales took a long time to die off after the initial hit they take when the sucessor launches. In 3rd world countries, a PS3 still is a luxury item and people are planning to get a one simply because the PS4 is too expensive.

There's always going to be two different opinions of how a gens sales should be counted.

1: X360 is 2nd because it held that position when X1 and PS4 launched.

2: PS3 is 2nd because it sold more overall (according to vgchartz) throughout the shelf life of X360 and PS3.

It's your choice which option you choose to agrue, either way there's no definitive answer.

For instance, in my opinion I believe PS3 is 2nd as both are still being sold at retail world wide and still relevant to consumers today. Just because PS4 and X1 launched does not mean that PS3 and X360 stop selling and all sales of either product are still important to both MS and Sony.

This is the 10th time the PS3 has "officially" passed the 360.
