Legend, I'm a bit shocked you are posting this. You already know the fanboys are just going to say there aren't any shortage, then go on about how they seen 150 Elite's and Pro's stacked at their Best Buy.

Let me say this with unequivocable certainty, as my last "inside tip" from my TRU job.

There is, unquestionably, inarguably a 360 shortage, particularly on the Premium and Elite SKUs.

From my Bestbuy "inside tip" as you put it, I know there's a 360 shortage. However, the members on this forum are in complete denial, based on what a lot of us said in a different thread when this was brought up.

It's not normal that is all I know. There HAS to be some type of explanation, but I wonder if we will ever find out.

The idea that they slowed production to bring out the "Ultimate" version is a possibility.

xbox720 baby! Mystery solved

For a MS to have at least a win for me is to get total control of the stupid RRoD. I was violated. :P

Not really but having RRoD for 4 times is too much. Lucky for MS that I bothered with a 5th last year.

amazon has every 360 SKU ,except for the Halo one, listed as discontinued. Something is going on.

Two possibilities I can think of -- one good for MS, one bad.

1) They are restructuring their entire SKU system. Perhaps they are dwindling down to a single SKU to avoid customer confusion, or are prepared to release a whole new group of SKUs, at a new price point, and perhaps with GTA IV bundled in somehow.

2) They don't have enough refurbished units to compensate for the enormous amont of RROD claims, and are being forced to take units directly from the supply chain as replacements for already owned (but irreparably broken) systems.

I think 2 is more plausible since i think there would have been word of a new SKU.

Drying the channel for:

1. New SKU.

2. New motherboards.

3. Dropping support of the console alltogether.

4. 720.

5. Fix RRoD in all current models.

There is always the possibility there is a manufacturing problem.

Losing sales in what is likely MS's last year of increasing demand must mean something big is causing it.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

That iswhy i think this whole entire shortage is hard to believe.  360 has 2 competitors both of which are making ground against it (Ninty in NA and PS3 WW).  SO it is a really bad time to have a shortage and no explanation.
