VGC has: 3DS - 806,538 (-204,106) PSV - 505,524 (-102,673) PS4 - 598,806 (-6,745) PS3 - 236,112 (-45,339) WII U - 202,592 (-62,859) PSP - 66,947 (-20,827) 360 - 5,222 (-1,029)
It's has one week less data, so PS4 and 360 are spot on while the others are pretty undertracked. |
Jeez, so VGC is really inaccurate even in Japan despite that Media Create put out their data weekly. I really don't want to see how huge of a mess VGC's Europe and "other countries" numbers are...
On Topic: Wow, the Vita is doing quite decently in Japan thanks in part of SCEJ actually supporting it. PS3 is not doing too shabby either.
Damn, Japan really is keeping the PSVita on life support.
How are vgc numbers so off when we get Famitsu/Media Create numbers every week

I'm starting to believe that VGC only guesses the USA and Japan numbers, correct them with NPD and Media Create. So they try to estimate the data for Canada and Mexico to make NA and just use the global shipments data from Sony, MS and Nintendo and another educated guess to estimate worldwide data. So they subtract Japan and NA from that, take 10% for Rest of The World and call the remaining numbers as EU data. But if they aren't correct about USA and Japan with all the correct data, then the rest is probably a mess.
The 3DS is definitely still salvageable. It should be able to go up considerably once Smash and Yokai Watch 2 release. However, NoJ must see that a remodel would be extremely helpful in Japan. I mean, how blind can you get?
good, anything to bump up vita numbers a bit

While I'm always up for some VGC tracking criticism, I am pretty sure this just comes down to when they year starts for MC and VGC.
Media Create week 1 is the week ending Jan 5th. VGC yearly data seems to be starting with the week ending Jan 12th.
I'm also not really sure why this is a thread, we get new YTD numbers from Japan every week.

lol at 360 being spot on, it sells 200 a week so it's undertracked by a month of sales. And yeah everything seems undertracked, is it the disparity between Media Create and Famitsu because I know that VGC uses the Famitsu weekly numbers.
