Forums - Nintendo - What Was Your First Reaction to Every Zelda?

Which 3D Zelda had the best reveal?

Ocarina of Time 8 10.39%

Majora's Mask 1 1.30%

The Wind Waker 2 2.60%

Twilight Princess 51 66.23%

Skyward Sword 4 5.19%

Zelda U 10 12.99%

Total:76

Simple question! I've only seen the reveal trailers on time with ALBW and Zelda U...

ALBW - YES YES YES YES YES YES YES!!!!!!!

Zelda U - YES... YES... YES... NO.... NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!

I did change my opinion about Zelda U, though.

I didn't follow E3 until around 2006-07, when Phantom Hourglass was already revealed, and Twilight Princess (I liked that reveal and got interested in it then). Can't remember the Spirit Tracks reveal, if there was one. So after that:

Skyward Sword: "YES they start off with Zelda!!! Wait... " Then I thought Link looked like he had lipstick or something, but that quickly weared off. Miyamoto's gameplay demo was bad though, but still I looked forward to trying it out for myself.

ALBW: "Yet another Nintendo Direct..." with some Zelda footage. Looked cool. Was more impressed when the game came out, the reveal was boring. Don't really like those pre-recorded movies.

Zelda U: "Here it comes..." *Aonuma reveals it* "Wow!" Reminded me of Skyrim only a thousand times more interesting, and with Zelda. Good stuff, can't wait for the rest.

Edit: Good, so far everybody has chosen the right answer in the poll.

Yep.

I've loved every reveal so far! But I remember the incredible hype surrounding OoT! I was in high school and all we had seen was screen shots, but we had already dubbed it the best looking game ever and were in fact expecting the BEST game ever made. One of my best friends said the game looked like shit, just in spite. We hunted him down and gave him a sound beating.

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

But the best reveal was by far TP.

Usually, it's: OMG, this is the greatest thing, ever!!

Two days later, it's usually: Well....this could suck.

Release date it's usually: OMG, this is the greatest thing, ever!!

I still on the DVD of that E3.  Bought it at a Sam Goody music store.  Now THAT was an E3 and that reveal was fucking epic.  I still get chills watching the reaction on youtube.  It was probably the second greatest moment of my life.

What's the first?!

I preordered Ocarina of Time as soon as I saw the footage from the N64 introduction tape and finished the game but not Master Quest. For me this was the last AAA Zelda game because the quality of future titles dropped a lot.

Majora's Mask reveal got me interested and i prerecorded the game. I did not like the fact that it only features 4 dungeons and hated the collection stuff, especially the stray ferries which I was never able to find even in the first dungeon and I did not want to use a guide. Because collecting these is work instead of fun and the upgrades I missed are too important, I never finished the 3rd dungeon and got bored by the game. I did like the overall dark and sad environment, however.

The Wind Waker reveal made me angry and upset. I only played through the first two temples or so an then got bored and never finished the game. I still cannot stand the art style and will never play it again.

I got blown away by the Twilight Princess E3 presentation but I did not like the final game because of the slow midna sections which completely destroyed the immersion. I played only the first 10 hours of the game because I got bored so much.

Skyward Sword impressions were nice, but I really couldn't imagine how it will play with motion controls (It plays great, like the series was meant to be played that way). I still have to finish this great game, currently got stuck somewhere after the sand ship. But the game gives way too much help messages and hints about everything.

Zelda U: First I was shocked by the art style but now I really like it, looks a lot like Skyrim. I still hope that the dungeons are not messed up, because there are no switches anymore and the dungeon concept will be completely redesigned, according to a recent Kotaku interview.

I don't think this is even a competition, that TWP reveal E3 video is as epic as they come - Aonuma (for once in his self-absorbed life) listened to what the fans actually wanted, and they more than showed their appreciation of that.

Wind Waker because it was genuinely SURPRISING! The others were kinda expected. They're all great but I just find it funny when people act like it's some big surprise that a Zelda is coming to the next Nintendo console. It's a known quantity as soon as they announce a new platform. WW surprised with the art style at least so the reveal was more exciting.
