Forums - Sony Discussion - Naughty Dog Working Hard to Push The Last of Us on PS4 Past 60 FPS

I would have been perfectly fine with a locked 30fps. Locked 60 is cool to, I guess. 30 just seems more cinematic to me.

1080p, 30 fps is good enough

"Dr. Tenma, according to you, lives are equal. That's why I live today. But you must have realised it by now...the only thing people are equal in is death"---Johann Liebert (MONSTER)

"WAR is a racket. It always has been.

It is possibly the oldest, easily the most profitable, surely the most vicious. It is the only one international in scope. It is the only one in which the profits are reckoned in dollars and the losses in lives"---Maj. Gen. Smedley Butler

Should be easy

I'd rather have better graphics. I still can't tell the difference between 30 and 60 FPS

I find that hard to believe.  If so idk if you should have a driver's license.

Yes it is so and yes I have a driver's license and I've never had an accident so I do just fine. I still don't know the difference. I can certainly tell between 15 fps and 30 fps but not 30 vs 60  so I will never understand the need for 60 fps. Now in other threads on this issue, some have pointed out that some of us don't notice because the vast majority of games are 30 fps. To that, I would say that if most games are fine that way, what is the point of 60 fps?

The most important thing IMO is a stable fps.

Go play MGS4, and then go play Far Cry 3 on PS3.  Then tell me if you can't tell the difference.  I recently found out my monitor can be run at above 100 FPS, and so I tried it...  The difference was immediately apparent to me, similar to the difference between 30 and 60 FPS.

I own MGS4 but have never played Far Cry 3. Which one is 60 FPS?

Wait I take it back... It seems MGS4 has a variable framerate (I mostly played online where 60 fps was the standard).  Hmmmmm.  MGSV is rock solid 60 FPS on PS4, or you could play RAGE on PS3 as it is also crazy solid at 60 FPS.

Sadly, I neither possess nor have any interest in the games you've listed. Maybe this is why I still don't see the need for 60 fps. Afterall, all my games are 30 fps and they're pretty good games. My favorite FPS to date is KZ2, a 30 fps game and people say that genre needs 60 fps the most

KZ2 is a classic that met my crazy high expectations!  But yeah lol idk what to tell ya then.  Play the MGS series though!  Best series made!

LOL silliest thing I keep hearing.  Ok well I think 1080i is more "Cinimatic" than 1080p because most movies are shown on TV at the resolution.

Sorry folks, better is better.

Many a-holes on the Internet spend all night being a-holes on the Internet. They are just as dedicated at trying to break down things as the people that spend all that passion/talent trying to create things.

The more awesome the creative passions, the more a-hole the a-holes on the Internet. It is the universe in harmony.

Yup, it proves right there that you don't need 60 fps to make a great game. KZ:SF tried to have 60 fps, the final product is a mess with constant framerate drops. I do have MGS4 and have wathed my cousin play through the other MGS games. Are they all 60 fps?

I just want to know if there will be an upgrade progam for those who bought the PS3 version. From what I've seen I doubt it though.

Amen.

I'll second that amen, even if I don't own the game :p

First of all, 60 FPS is not required, but it always makes a game better.  Period.  Now as for KZ:SF, I have it and the Framerate is far from a mess.  I will take unlocked any day of the week over 30 FPS because when it is 50-60 FPS in close quarters areas, I have the advantage over people who use 30 fps.

Also not every MGS is 60 FPS.  MGS2 is a rock solid 60 fps though.  Play the HD collection of MGS2 and 3... You will see!

P.S.  Or you could just build a budget PC too ;)

Oh yes. I can't wait to play this! I'm glad I held off on the PS3 version.
