Forums - Gaming - graphics that made you say "wow"

The graphics on Heavenly Sword were amazing and awe-spiring, although I was a lot less impressed when I actually played the game and found it to be little more than a button-mashing fighting game.

Gah! Did you not play the PC version? There was a huge difference visually.

Yes it looked much better on PC, but the fact that they actually got it up and running on X-box is what made me say "Wow!"

This isn't the first answer I would usually think of in reply to these threads, but just thinking about it right now:

Starwing (Starfox) on the SNES - Absolutely incredible, a true definition of pushing the boundaries of technology. Great stuff :)

Donkey Kong country for me i had playstation back then and i was still amazed by graphics.

It's interesting to see how people are interpreting the original question differently.

A few took the question in its most obvious direction, which is "Games with photorealistic graphics." A few took it a step beyond that, and made it "Games with artistic style which impressed me, whether that be  photorealistic or otherwise," and an even smaller group took teh question as "technical feats or significant accomplishments in graphical evolution."

Half Life 2 on the Xbox, Wii Sports, and Shadow of the Colossus are clearly not cutting edge anymore and have been completely and utterly outstripped by modern games; they are, however, still important stalwarts of technological evolution, each in their own way.

I'v always been a stricly Nintendo gamer, and entering this generation of games i knew Nintendo was on the short end when it came to graphics, however when I 1st played Metroid Prime 3: Corruption for the Wii the graphics floored me. Sure PS3 and X360 games look better but MP3 was the 1st game I owned that made me feel like my Wii WAS next gen.

Final Fantasy VI, Final Fantasy VII... Jax (I loved the original the whole village feeling was great) and Oblvion;...
