good list

Only the first 5 games I want, the others not.

At first I thought they were excluding PC... but Starcraft 2 is out there.

How is Spore not on the list? Or Left 4 Dead?

Prototype? I hear no hype for this game... do many people even know it exists? NGS 2 seems a bit off too compared to Spore & Left 4 Dead.

To me it just looks like a list someone made on the fly... and someone who isn't as much a fan as some platforms as others.

I honestly don't care about whether this list is "right" or "wrong". We all like different games, which is what's fun about gaming. What interests me is how the titles anticipated by the enthusiast gaming media often have NO relation whatsoever to what actually sells. For fun, here's the same top 10 list from Gametrailers from last year, looking ahead to 2007. Last year's top 10 list contained:

Certainly not a bad list, of course. But at the same time, three of those games didn't even release in 2007, Metroid Prime and Crysis had little impact outside of the hardcore fans, and (despite really good reviews) Bioshock and Mass Effect barely cracked a million in sales each. The only true successes from a sales standpoint on that list were Mario Galaxy, Assassin's Creed, and Halo. They also managed to miss most of the games that actually sold best in 2007, including:

Pokemon Diamond/Pearl (over 8m in sales in 2007!)
Guitar Hero 3 (7m and counting across all platforms)
Wii Play (7m)
Call of Duty 4 (four million plus)
Mario Party (4m)

And I could go on. I know that what's "anticipated" is somewhat different than what sells, but there's still a very large disconnect taking place here.

Brawl 10 wtf

 Fallout is a HUGE franchies on the PC, so it probably deserves its spot. Prototype, NG2, LBP are placed a little too high. GTA and SSBB should be in the top 5.

I thought RE5 was a 2009 release but Microsoft keeps mentioning it as a 2008 one. Also although Prototype looks nice it's not a sequel and doesn't really seem to get the kind of buzz to be on a list like that. Mario Kart and Gears of War 2 should be somewhere on that list.

How SPORE is not in 1st place, let alone in the top 10, baffles me. I can't think of any other game that is much anticipated as Spore in 2008.
