Resistance 2, Killzone 2, Gran Turismo 5 (probably 2009 for Europe due to localization) are IMO all contenders for this top 10 list.

I think GTA IV should be ranked higher. My personal top 3:

1) Resistance 2

2) Killzone 2

3) GTA IV

Oh, and Gears 2 should probably be there as well, although I didn't like Gears 1 that much myself.

it's not a bad list. i think the fact that so many people disagree with it speaks volumes about the quality and quantity of great games hitting stores this year.

I think RE5 should be #1. But that's cause RE4 is my personal favorite game since soul caliber.

I took FF13 off because likely 09. A list without Spore is criminal.

This makes much more sense-
1. Grand Theft Auto IV (Multiplat)

2. Spore (PC)

3. Starcraft 2 (PC)

4. Super Smash Bros. Brawl (Wii)

5. Resident Evil 5 (Multiplat)

6. Metal Gear Solid 4 (PS3)

7. Fallout 3 (Multiplat)

8. LittleBigPlanet (PS3)

9. Fable 2 (Xbox 360)

10. Wii Fit (Wii)

There's a significant lack of Mario Kart Wii. And Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Starcraft II should be way higher.

There's so many great games coming out this year, it's just so difficult to narrow it down to just 10.

This list seems biased against the wii where is MK wii?

This list fails because their most anticipated game is basically confirmed for 2009 and has been for a while. I'll make the same argument against FFXIII also even though Square won't break it to fans that they can't make that 2008 deadline. Outside of that I can't complain. I like that they have Prototype on there.
