Most cutscenes are in-game, but they have a few pre-rendered ones.

So if by your standards Uncharted had "regular detail" environments, i suppose that means you also think MK8 has shitty environments?
Not that i expect you to admit such a thing. I still remember you claiming MK8 was one of the most demanding games on next gen consoles. You said that back when you thought it was 1080p/ with AA. Shame about that 720p/no AA huh? |
bolded: How could I consider it shitty when it does much more?
I never thought it was 1080p. how about thinking before putting words in my mouth? mario kart 8 is incredibly demanding, much more than uncharted 3.
Cutscenes in ND games have never been CGi, they were always in engine, meaning it was the assets running on the real engine of the game.
Some even were already real time, the one everybody knows with seamless transition to gameplay. The big elliptic kind were pre rendered.
Now if they had to record all their cutscenes in high quality, high bitrate 1080p60, it would take an insane amount of space, specially to digital standards. Actually they have no other choice than making everything real time, like already in remastered TLOU.

It would make sense to eliminate pre-rendering if it means the game costs less to make. But if pre-rendering costs less then they should keep it. |
Yes it's the otherway, real time cutscene takes longer to produce, because you have to chase every single bug, and take care of performance (aka framedrops) at every second. If you pre render them, even in engine, you have control over all of theses things, it's way easier to produce. Again, they have no choice than making everything real time now.

You described MK8 as "EVERYTHING in the game is perfectly/almost perfectly done." You then went on to list resolution as one of those "perfect/almost perfect" things. So either you thought it was 1080p or you believe that a 7th gen resolution is "almost perfect" for an 8th gen game :P
Please tell me it's the second option, i need a good laugh

Uncharted 3 looks much better and more technically demanding than anything on the wii u so far. Those screenshots are perfect examples of that.
Honestly at 1080p/60fps I wouldn't mind loading screens, but this is ND were talking about, they'll do some vudu magic to make loading screens go away.

how does 720p stop it from being nearly perfect graphically? you just need to look at it to undertand.

I never said that ^^ I'm pointing out that you specifically listed resolution as one of the aspects of MK8 that is "perfect/near perfect". If you never believed it was 1080p then that must mean you believe 720p is near perfection. I'm sure you can understand how hilarious a notion that is.
You actually said "EVERYTHING" was perfect or close to being so, but resolution was one of the areas you specifically listed. Once we consider everything you didn't list (but implied to), things become considerably more amusing.
The reality is MK8 is a brilliant game with pretty decent graphics a great frame rate and appalling image quality. You can try and tell yourself anything you like, but the fact remains it's a long way from perfect.

I never finished The Last of Us and sold it back because of the infinite loading times...
