the games seems to leave a very meh impression to those who played it

My prediction is that the beta will leave people disappointed

seems to be the complete opposite to me.

Yeah, I'm not sure which impressions he's reading, because he's certainly not talking about BenVTrigger's impressions and the vast majority of those responding in his thread on the Destiny Alpha.

Exactly what I was thinking as I read the OP. I don't think I've heard one of the complained mentioned by the OP. The most common complaint I hear is "it's been done" which is basically a complaint used for every single game being released this gen. The only game that seemed to slide by (which shocked me honestly) was Wolfenstein. I haven't played Wolfenstein it looks fun and I do plan on getting it but I don't see how people weren't complaining about that formula being done a million times +1 already. People this gen are very very confusing.

the world ia extremely detailed too,  lots of secret areas,  hidden loot and curiousities.

just seems to me that the few that are hating on the game never intended to give it a chance in the first place either out of jealousy or bias to anothee game,  or simply have not played it yet.

I actually equate much of the Destiny hate, to the hate that Fuse and now Sunset Overdrive is getting, an exclusive developer jumping (seemingly) to the other side.  Pisses fans off, or so it would seem :)

i was the same,  even watching the latest playthroughs prior to e3, but playing it yourself is a whole different ballgame,  experiencing the scale and intricacies on something that is simply an alpha and not even to beta yet,  leaves an odd feeling of wishing they had a product on shelves right now to buy.

Something tells me it's one of these reasons:

1. They're MS/Xbox/Halo fans and feel hurt by Bungie for promoting the PS4 version

2. They're Nintendo only fans and feel hurt for not getting even a choice of playing the game

Better, but Jim Ryan from Sony saying Destiny will be a cash cow is not exactly a hype thread.

This is more of a hype thread:

http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=185120&page=1#9

It's a gamer putting a game that he loves in a positive light and asking for other peoples opinions or thoughts, not just saying something will make money.

Sorry but I think your way of measuring how many people care (by counting "hype threads") is more than a bit extaordinary

Normal's boring.

No just no...sunset over drive is not even getting much hate out of the norm, most seem pretty happy with what they have seen, destiny on the other hand brought out the haters everywhere.

Largely ms fans upset with the PS4 attention, and just anti -FPS crowd who hate any FPS no matter what, and nintendo fans.

Yep add I would add the "It's an FPS so it must suck" crowd too.

I'm also bitter that they're not releasing it on PC :P

3. Master Race disappointed about no PC release.

While im abit dissapointed that the game isnt going to be on Pc, I still plan to try it out on Ps4. I do not think this game will be a flop. This game will be far from a flop. I'll compare it to Watch Dogs, people say that game was a flop, yet it sold insane numbers across consoles...so yea...

Many previews and videos of the Alpha are available now, while most of the early technical issues are now corrected the games seems to leave a very meh impression to those who played it, mainly because of

- as am MMO it feels incomplete

- as an FPS it feels unfocused

- repetitive missions

- poor social features

- poor AI

The beta will be accessible on PS4 starting tomorrow.

My prediction is that the beta will leave people disappointed, upfront sales will remain good (2 million across all platforms' first week combined), Xmas sales will be average at best (3.5 million by the end of 2014) and the legs will be the ones suffering the most (4.5-5.5 million by the end of 2015)

For any other new IP this would not be considered a "flop", but this game has huge sunken costs (half a billion dollars) and had probably 10 million+ units in target.

Second prediction : the game will become free to play by 2016

please keep the discussion civil

Someone will surely be eating their hat come end of the year!

Haha, 5 mill by the end of 2015? Watchdogs sold 4 million first week, Destiny might sell your end of 2015 5 mill prediction in it first two weeks. Maybe even its first week. 2 mill across all platforms first week? Try 2 million on just PS4 alone first week. I have got to save this post for when destiny drops.

Also the Beta is July 17th, this is just the Alpha.

Thanks jlmurph!

I'm a PC + Console gamer who prefers FPS on PC infinitely, but I've preordered a PS4 Bundle for Destiny. I can play with a pad, I just don't enjoy the experience very much. But I'm also preordered on the new XIM model that supports PS4, should be out any time now :D Best of both worlds FTW! :D
