Forums - Gaming - Xbox One now ten percent more powerful without Kinect

http://metro.co.uk/2014/06/05/xbox-one-now-10-more-powerful-without-kinect-4750844/

Now that this is confirmed i'll just stash my Kinect because the only thing I use the thing for was my Netflix. Toggling through Netflix was slower and the Kinect couldnt hear me over the sound of the movie once it came on. It is a pointless waste for me until Dance Central comes out. I also agree with them that once this was confirmed it was the final nail in the coffin because truthfully their reasoning for force bundling the Kinect was all deception.

I can forgive that deception now that Phil Spencer is the head. I like him. As long as he keeps the games coming I can enjoy my Xbox One which I am right now...then again I enjoyed my 360 the first three years until 2008 as well. Shane Kim= Phil Spencer running the Xbox division the same way????

DUN DUN DUN! Twilight Zone.

Isn't this old news? Or is it now confirmed?

my only question is how does MS explain this to the people who have Kinect plugged up when new games release utilizing this extra power? Yeah that Kinect thing we sold you on that was so emmersive and nesscisary to operate your system ..yeah go ahead and unplug that. sorry for swiping an extra hundo from ya no hard feelings.

Its confirmed. When they asked the Xbox team member whether Xbox One games will be 1080 P because of the increased GPU the rep dodged the question. Real transparent of them. ;)

Have you calibrated you Kinect correctly?

The only time voice comands don't work for me is when a jet plain is land in the airport near my apartment.

But any way, pluging or unpluging your Kinect has no effect on the game performance.

ive had similar issues with mine, after calibrating and recalibrsting endless times

This sounds rather strange, why would Kinect be spending GPU bandwidth ? I get why itd spend processing resources and memmory but GPU bandwidth ?

Since 10% extra power is a completly ephemeral thing here cause XOne hasnt been utilised to full potential yet, Ms can simply clain games that look better next year are a result of the Kinectless secret souce.

Spencer said that the Kinect doesn't need to be disconnected in order to use the extra power i believe.

Think about what makes xbox one's voice comands special compared to other places voice comands are featured. It's always ready to be used no matter what you're doing. Phones and computers usually have to shut down all other parts of their respective operating systems in order to focus on the voice comands.

so in the upcoming games that benifiet from this, Kinnect functions will most likely be fully disable while the game is running as a sacrifice for the boost.

It was Major Nelson who made that statement.
