"Amazon sales don't equate to anything in real life."

I feel like I said this in another thread recently. Hmm... whatever. Ubiquitous post is ubiquitous.

Buying online has grown over this past gen, so Amazon isn't quite so niche as it once was.  Of course, it definitely doesn't represent a majority of numbers.  Though, every month this gen that the PS4 has been ahead on Amazon, they won NPD.  So, we'll just have to wait and see how June plays out.

While Amazon rankings aren't a direct comparison for sales (they use some proprietary algorithm, how else would they be able to update them hourly) they are a good measurement of sales popularity. One can conclude, with a large degree of confidence, that the Halo MCC is selling more than the PS4 Destiny Bundle which is selling better than Mario Cart 8 which is selling better than the PSTV atm.

What it does not do is account for total units sold but to simply say that Amazon sales do not equate to anything in real life is just ignorant imho.

That Destiny bundle is beasting!

We literally have years' of data to see whether Amazon sales are representative of overall sales.

I can say for one that I'll probably be trading in my PS4 for the white model. (I hope it isn't limited) I'll definitely be getting the PS TV though.

You obviously skipped over the rest of my post where I stated the rankings do NOT indicate, track or measure overall sales. It ranks items by popularity in sales on an hourly basis and is a good metric in that regard.

In real life the the white PS4 bundle is more popular in terms of the rate of sales over the original PS4. Does not mean it has actually sold more units. How could it have? It was just listed.

Destiny is going to do big numbers for Sony

I thought we made it clear (in another thread) that Amazon best sellers don't reflect the whole picture...

These numbers are just for the hour.  However, Amazon does also show what has sold the best on their site for the month and the year.
