Last decade's game design meets this decade's visuals

A new video of Halo 2 Anniversary in action on Xbox One has surfaced online - or dropped from orbit, rather, like Master Chief mounting an unplanned orbital re-entry. The footage is badged "work in progress", so don't necessarily throw a wobbly over the state of the textures for the moment. I think it looks pretty handsome, myself.

In theory, it's a stopgap to whet your appetite while you wait for Halo 5: Guardians - there will be a public beta for the latter in December, which you'll get access to when (if?) you buy the Collection in November.

In practice, this is quite enough Halo to be going on with for the rest of the Xbox One's life: four entire games, comprising 60 hours of campaign content and over 100 multiplayer maps, with updated, 1080p/60fps visuals and dedicated servers. Your wallet, purse and/or relevant money-holding apparatus will thank you. Your thumbs may not.

Halo 2 was the last I Halo I really enjoyed and the screens I've seen of the remake look great, but the nostalgia factor isn't strong enough to convince me to buy the XB One anytime soon. Might rent it to play on my uncle's console, though.

To be honest, I'm not that impressed by the video, but like you said it's still being worked on.

Regardless, I've played Halo 2 (as well as the other installments), but I wouldn't run out and buy an X1 for this. That's me though.

Can't wait to pick this game up. Will be fun getting all the achievements in this game.

Too bad they picked the worst possible map to show. Same thing was the case with Halo: CEA where the first map was the least visually impressive.

Had no xbox one (old one) and have no xbox one (new one xD) just 360. I have Halo1 3 and 4 wtf is no Halo 2 on 360? Pretty dumb decision to skip the 360 because it has well every other halo game.

I know what i will be playing this fall. Halo 2 MP! Bring it on!
