Forums - Gaming - Are PlayStation multiplats being gimped for Xbone's sake?

If only every dev could be like Naughty Dog.

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

There's a clear difference in difficulty in solving 2 + 2 and proving that the product topology X x X - {(a, a) | a in X} is a Hausdorff space.

Coding for the PS4 is like the former while coding for the PS3 is like the latter. Any dev should be able to do what ND is doing with the PS4.

I think you should learn a thing or two about game development.

I majored in math, econ and CS while in college. I think my game development knowledge is sufficient for me to comment on this issue.

You obviously lack the python and javascript knowledge to make such claim.

Id say it is more likely that the Next Gen Multiplats are being held back by their last gen versions, more than by a specific console.

Of course, it's always going to happen with a few games. Same thing that always happens with PC versions, even if they are better they're still gimped.

No, most certainly not.

So, you are saying the difference in difficulty is comparable to kindegarten math vs abstract algebra?  You dont think that is a bit of hyperbole?

So, in real world application, if i knew enough to program for the ps4 i would have to study game development for an additional 15+ years in order to code for the ps3?  Thats the difference in schooling between the two math problems you give as examples...

This didn't help you understanding a basic thing in life. People have different talents. Game development isn't only about coding. You act like robots are doing the work where every robot is programmed the same way and has the same ability, mind, imagination, objective etc. Support, budget, talent, intentions and art direction will influence a game's graphics way more than hardware alone... it's like since every humans have two legs well every humans should run at the same speed regardless of multiple factors... dude really?

You missed the point entirely.

All you need are the definitions of the claim in order to prove it.

The difference between solving 2 + 2 and proving that the product topology X x X - {(a, a) | a in X} is a Hausdorff space is that anyone can solve 2 + 2, but only people with a sufficiently high IQ can solve the latter. There's barely any prior knowledge required in proving that statement, so you don't need 15+ years of math education.

In the same way, you don't need years of coding experience to code for the PS3. It's just insanely more g-loaded than typical PC programming.

Exclusives on both consoles will always push the boundaries farther than anything 3rd party developer ever could because of the hand and hand work they will do with Sony and Microsoft. In 2 years we will look back at that uncharted reveal and those graphics will be the norm.
