Do we really need an E3 with all the press conferences going on? All I need is announcements and gameplay videos to even be excited. Whether it be leaked or put on a YouTube channel by a publisher.

I saw in one thread awhile back asking would you rather have Sony/Microsoft do a digital event like Nintendo (something of that nature), and everybody was in favor of having a conference, rather than a publisher uploading a YouTube video. What do you actually get out of E3 that you can't get anywhere else conference wise? Some people in the thread said having a crowd there cheering, but is that it?

In my opinion, E3 is becoming more irreleavant to me, especially in the digital age where everything is getting announced before E3. I could live with publishers just uploading conferences on their YouTube channel's.

Conference wise, do you really need E3?

I don't NEED it, but I don't NEED games themselves either. E3 is just a great extra for being a gamer. It's so much fun for me to get excited about these few days each year where the big three announce new titles. Way better than plain announcements. Still a no though, because I can live without E3.

Its exciting to me, its a show off of whats coming. I just really enjoy it. So my answer is yes.

no, i'd prefer just regular announcements whenever they feel like the time is right instead of cramming things

Big events are exciting, it's just that simple. People like spectacles, whether it's in sports, music, entertainment, etc....

Umm, yeah? I'm mega pumped for E3 every year. It's honestly the best "holiday" for me aside from christmas. What exactly is your question.

Conference wise, what's the difference between getting announcements from a live press conference, and getting it from a pre recorded show? Why would you rather have a live press conference? Not E3 in general.

Yes, i need to know whats Nintendo is going to launch this year.

In the wilderness we go alone with our new knowledge and strength.

I never really gave a shit about E3. Digital events is enough for me. I went to a gaming expo once and it was terrible. Granted it was some small SXSW gaming expo in Austin, TX. The only thing that I was impressed with after leaving the conference was actually getting streetpasses on the 3DS.  Basically, if it weren't for those streetpasses it would have been a waste of time.

E3 almost died in the mid 2000s and I wouldn't be sad if it did.

Funny that no one responded to the thread till it got bumped 4 years later.
