Make sure you claim that shit in customs. I got harassed by Detroit customs officers when I left the country a month ago. I had $7,000. My girl had $6,000. The agent accused me of splitting the money we had to try and smuggle it out of the country. They say that if you carry more than $10,000 out of the country, you need to fill forms out. The officer was so convinced that I was some kind of criminal and wouldn't let it go. He kept telling me it was my money and I shouldn't give it to other people to carry. Like if he kept telling me, it would come true. We were split up and interrogated. They finally let us go after being threatened of getting sued.
